New Curry Garden is one of a new style of Indian restaurants popping up here and there. It has done away with the flock wallpaper and the Taj Mhal shaped windows and is refreshingly modern. Bright blues and yellows on the walls, combined with traditional Indian wall art, and subtle lighting give it a trendy, upmarket air and the food's not bad either! I always judge an Indian restaurant by the quality of its chicken Dhansak. At some resturants this can err on the side of salty but at NCG it is fresh, hot, sweet and sour like it should be. Also NCG offers one of the best Balti's (chicken, meat, prawn or vegetable) I've had in the South of England so brownie points for that as well. Other dishes are very good as and there is a good selection including the usual Kormas and Tikkas. As for the beer - well NCG offers Kingfisher, Tiger and (my fav!) Cobra beer in addition to typical UK types. My only criticisms are that wheelchair access may not be great as there is quite a hefty step to get through the front door and parking is limited. The restaurant is situated on South Street in Dorking which is both narrow and busy especially as there are a number of other popular restaurants very close by which can make it a bit of a squeeze. I'm alright though as it's within walking distance of my house! NCG has a rather good website where you can order takeaways and deliveries or simply drool over the long list if dishes on offer.
