New Shimla is one of my favourite restaurants and I simply love the experience it offers

New Shimla restaurant and take away is the curry restaurant in Dumbarton that has been around for quite a few years now and tried everything to drum up business but never quite managed to get the business it deserves. Recently though my wife and I headed there for a meal out with my mum and were pleasantly surprised to find massive improvements. The restaurant itself is in the town centre of Dumbarton and you head up the stairs and enter a set of double doors to find a beautifully decorated restaurant which has plenty of tables and seating (all comfortable) but well laid out and spacious. You are welcomed by smartly dressed staff members who will show you to your table and offer you up drinks before explaining the menu a little to you. The menu has two offers now with either a mixed platter started along with poppadums, choose 3 curries with rice of your choice, nan bread of your choice and then have dessert all for about £20 or your other option is to pick a curry and rice for about a fiver. The option we decided to go for was the first. The head chef came over to explain a little about himself as he has recently joined the company and decided to do away with their previous buffet offerings. He went on to explain to us that he believes in using natural flavourings and does not like using colourings in his food so that the food may look different from what we have seen previously and that his major thing is that food has to be cooked fresh and not allowed to lay around and lose its flavouring. My mum, wife and I found that the food on offer was simply excellent with good size portions, fresh and tasty produce. The restaurant itself is very clean, modern and has a very classy decor. Staff in the restaurant are all very helpful and friendly and happy to help you as much as possible so you feel a very personal service experience each time (we have been back since). The take away is once again offering up excellent food and brilliant portion sizes with great variety on offer and amazing value. The delivery times are normally very quick and the ordering is simple and easy with you not needing to repeat your order multiple times (as I have had with other Indian take aways in the past). Positives: - Excellent, freshly prepared food - Tasty food without all the fancy colourings and stuff added - Helpful and friendly staff - Well turned out staff - Comfortable and well decorated restaurant - Excellent take away service - Great value for money Negatives: - None New Shimla is an amazing Indian restuarant that offers up gorgeous food and excellent value in a very well thought out and executed setting.
