Advantages: Great food, different to so many others out there
Disadvantages: Lousy parking
Old Orleans, Valley Centretainment, Sheffield
I've eaten at Old Orleans very recently and I loved it. I'll be going back again soon I hope.
We originally planned to eat at another restaurant in the same complex but they refused to book us in advance and said a 20 - 30 minute waiting time would be likely. Not with toddlers thanks, so we went back out to try elsewhere.
Old Orleans had a sign outside advertising free kids meals, all day every day. That was tempting so we went in, they accommodated us immediately with courtesy and gave the kids balloons, activity bags and high chairs which they loved.
We were very quickly served drinks and given plenty of time to decide on our food which was difficult to choose from. The menu is great for a southern style restaurant and I was torn but ended up with chicken and wings, my companions ate jambalaya which was lovely! The kids had choices from the childrens menu and I was happy with the quantity and quality.
The jambalaya was yummy, I had a small bite, I would order that in future and my meal was as expected in terms of product and very tasty.
I drank lovely virgin cocktails (driving!) and really enjoyed the whole thing.
I like the decor, there's a touch of class about it, intricate designs separate the various dining areas and added some privacy for the diners.
We found on the menu that birthday meals are free for the celebrant on the day of their birthday and with evidence. However, only one promotion is available per table but they would work out which one would save us most money. So I got my meal free and the kids ate for a low price anyway.
I would recommend it to anyone.
The five of us ate for just under £40 including drinks, though that's 3 adults with one meal free and two children at lower priced meals.
As the whole place is an entertainment and leisure place, the parking is shared between numerous restaurants, a cinema and a bowling alley, the parking can be a challenge at weekends especially and in the evenings. Be prepared to walk to the far corners of the car park.
Summary: Temptingly tasty

- 11/08/08 Car parking is a problem at most places like this, Neat review but dont forget to mention how much it actually cost overall as for a lot of people, especially with the credit crunch, that would be the benchmark as part of the review. Any ideas as to price and any particular specials that can be recommeded will not only add more detail to the review but also give it a strong personal touch. Hope this helps. |
