Advantages: Amusingly bad service, is ill tempered but quick! CHEAP!

Disadvantages: Food's not amazing, but could it be? at that price?

Yup, have to say I'm with Pehchiong on this one. Wong Kei's (affectionately known as Wonky's) has to have THE rudest waiting staff in town..... but god it's HILARIOUS!

The place is ENORMOUS, something like 5 floors of it, and even if the tables are all full (it happens on Friday and Saturday nights) they sandwich you in somewhere, usually on the end of someone else's table! So it's great for the social life. Once I got put on a table with a load of people and we had loads of weird coincidences! Some of us had been to the same Uni, some of had lived in the same places.... the list goes on!

Anyway, importantly, despite the service Wong Kei's is one of the busiest places around, so why? Well it's PHENOMENALLY cheap, they pile 'em high and sell 'em cheap. The food is good, considering the price, not the best, but good.

If you're around China-town and have a spare few quid drop by Wong Kei's. Put it this way, you'll save even more money on the tip!

The service is certainly different. I went to get a table with a few friends and were told to follow the waiter. He pointed over to the left and muttered something in Chinese. I thought he was asking a colleague to tidy away some plates that had been left. He then took us up to the top of the restaurant, and when we reached the top, asked us to stop following him as our table was on the ground floor!!!

Plus I think its cash only - credit cards - no way. I've been there twice - its an institution !!

I agree with everything about the service. I was taken there in freshers week to be shown exactly how rude Londoners can be!! The best bit is when you ask for water or something and get looked at in such a way thatyou don't want to drink it in case the waiter spat in it!
