Decent Italian food for the whole family (Pizza Express)

Advantages: Good choice, nice food, not too fancy, child friendly

Disadvantages: Service could be bad in some restaurants

I want to be clear - I like Pizza Express. I like most of their pizzas, I like most of their restaurants. I would like to recommend them.

Pizzas

I like their pizzas because they have thin base. Choice of toppings are really Italian. You cannot find some odd toppings, very often used outside of Italy. (curry pizza or similar). Prices for pizzas are from £5.65 to £9.25. You can choose different bases if you want. Plenty of choice for vegetarians as well. I personally prefer La Reine (Prosciutto cotto ham, olives and mushrooms, a royal combination that once made the Italian Queen's favourite pizza).

Other food.

Nice starters. I would recommend Bruschetta con Funghi (Portobello and closed cup mushrooms baked with cream, béchamel sauce, red onions, parsley and a dash of balsamic vinegar, then piled onto freshly baked dough sticks)

You can choose from standard menu of pastas. Desserts are refreshing, as Italians do them. My tip - Sicilian Lemon Sorbet. I always order Sicilian Lemonade as well. They always have kids menu.

If you like Italian cuisine this is a decent place to eat. It is not very cheap but not too pricey, I would say.

I regullarly go to Wokingham PE and like it as staff is friendly, food is ready in minutes and they are very child friendly. We had a bad experience in Sunningdale restaurant. They put us to seat in the dark area, in the middle of the restaurant. Food was late, waiters were running and jumping around us, nobody knew what was ordered. At the end we felt very bad and had to complain. You are guessing - we kept avoiding that one since...

You can buy PE pizzas in supermarkets. They are much more expensive than other pizzas around but they are much better. I prefer to eat them in the restaurant. Don't want to spoil the fun by eating them too often...
