Advantages: Gorgeous food.
Disadvantages: Sometimes they are stingy with the cheese!
I really don't think the name Pizza Express gives the restaurant justice. It makes it sound like a fast food restaurant, which I have found out it isn't. I avoided it for years due to the name, until someone recommended otherwise.
Pizza Express is a chain of Italian restaurants, and you can find them in many towns a nd cities. They often reside in pretty little buildings with lots of character. For example the local one to me, in the city of Canterbury is in a quaint old building with lots of character, with cool vines over arches, a nice outside area, small winding corridors, and it is situated right on the river. I personally recommend asking for one of the tables next to the window by the river. They won't guarantee giving you one, but it is worth a try!
Pizza Express has a wide choice on the menu. It has the usual Italian food, like Pizza, pasta and salads. It also has some specials that have becomes particular to Pizza Express, such as the dough balls. They are freshly baked, soft and warm, smell delicious. Certain Pizza Express foods have become so popular that they have bought out an at home range which you can cook for yourself. They these in Sainsburys (maybe more shops, this is just the only one I have seen them in) and the range includes the dough balls and pizza.
Pizza Express are really flexible and if you want a variation to a dish on their menu they are usually more than willing to help. For example my Mum us dairy intolerant and we always ask them to modify their dishes accordingly, which they do happily.
Pizza Express have a new range of pizzas they have bought out, they have low fat ones, which have a hole in the middle and are filled with salad. I have not tired them, but if you are worried about putting weight on, yet want to enjoy an Italian, they may be ideal for you.
I would personally recommend the ceaser salad. I really like it, the lettuce is crisp and fresh and the dressing is gorgeously creamy. Just beware. It comes with anchovies in, if you don't want them, ask for it without. I would also recommend the Pizza Express creamy salad dressing you can buy in lots of shops. One of a kind!
Summary: Try the restaurant...and the at home range.
