Advantages: great pizza, most of which is free, brilliantly designed restaurants

Disadvantages: you should always leave a tip

I'm sure most of you have been to a Pizza Express, but how many have taken advantage of their club deals?

To join the club costs £35 or £60 for a couple living at the same address - but if you live in London - I guarantee you'll eat that back in freebies several times over!

I first joined two years ago - and it was considerably cheaper then - but even now it is an absolute bargain if you use your membership well.

So, what do you get for your money?

Well, 4 free meals, including one beer or glass of house wine each time.

Free dessert if you ever order between 3.00pm and 5.00pm. (A Godsend when I lost my job! - and great if you work odd hours!)

£10 voucher for your birthday.

Another £10 for filling in a report on a visit.

(All vouchers are also valid in Cafe Pasta - part of the same chain)

one free entry into soho Jazz club to see the All Stars (You've got to go - they're amazing!)

A snazzy diary with some seriously useful bits and pieces in!

And, on top of all that - free meals at any newly opened restaurant (once each).

Now, in the first year I joined that was about six new restaurants that I could easily get to... so you can see that I eat quite well on my initial investment there!

My only advice out of curtesy, I would say is tip well and in cash, otherwise your poor waiting staff won't get a penny.

After all, you would anyway, and that is all you will pay, unless you choose extras.

Also, although there seems plenty of opportunity to rob Pizza Express blind in free meals - do bear in mind that you want them to be around for your next years membership! - so you may like to pay for a few trips between free visits.

Oh, and I forgot to mention...

the pizzas are out of this world!
