Advantages: When they are good, they are very, very good!, The pizza
Disadvantages: Not all branches are up to the same standard
Pizza Hut can't really be grouped together with McDonalds, Burger King and KFC, they are of a better quality than that, but they do offer a take out service in a lot of restaurants too.
I have mixed feelings about Pizza Hut due to very different experiences with them.
For example, last week I went to my local pizza hut in Norfolk with a group of work colleagues. It was busy as always but we were quickly seated and ordered our meal. The staff there are always very friendly and go out of their way to help you out. The pizza itself was hot and delicious and we didn't have to wait very long for it either.
I think the prices are very reasonable and the waitress even helped us out with finding the best way to use our vouchers to save the most money!
I would certainly return.
However, about a month ago now, I was in Cardiff visiting some family. My sister and I were doing some early Christmas shopping and decided to go to pizza hut for our tea.
It wasn't very busy inside, yet there was a fair queue squashed into the small space at the door.
After about 15minutes of waiting we were seated at a table. After taking off our coats and getting comfy, a waitress came over and asked if we could move to another table as they were closing off half of the restaurant for the night. Although slightly put out, we got up and followed her through the mostly empty restaurant to a section where all the other diners were sat. It was a fairly small space and people were packed in next to each other. There was only one free (very small) table here that was already joined to another table where a family of 5 were eating. The waitress pulled the end table out by about 3 inches and told us we could sit there.
It was crazy, not only did my sister and I feel like we were intruding on some one else’s meal, but we had barely enough room to move and had to keep our conversation at a near whisper for any degree of privacy.
She then disappeared without even bothering to take our drinks orders. Whilst we were waiting for her to return, we noticed a couple a few tables away had been given the wrong order and the waitress was arguing with them. She was insisting that the pizza she had given them was the correct one.
Our waitress return about ten minutes later after spending most of that time flirting with a waiter in a rather loud voice and ignoring her customers. We gave our orders and then waited and waited for the pizza to arrive. When it did about half an hour later, my sisters was wrong. Still, she didn't mind as she said she'd like this one more anyway!
The staff continued to act like school children through out our meal, we wondered if maybe the manager was off sick or something. Whilst we ate we noticed a couple standing at the door waiting to be seated. They were completely ignored for 20 minutes whilst they waited. One waitress even started cleaning tables right next to them. She obviously thought cleaning tables (that were in the closed off section of the restaurant) was of higher priority then seating some VERY patient customers.
There were several other incidents that night, but all seem rather petty now. However, all together, it was enough to make us wish we’d never gone there.
We left after our meal, leaving no tip and wrote a letter the next day to the manager. We didn't hear anything back, didn't even expect to, but I wont be going back to that branch EVER!!
