Advantages: excellent service. Very good food.

Disadvantages: Ice cream machine was broken

I have just come home from a lovely evening, spent celebrating my sons 5th birthday,at pizza hut. His main party is on Saturday, but we just wanted to go somewhere as a treat for tea tonight. I have to say I am really impressed with the meal and friendly service we had at the pizza hut restaurant.
As soon as we entered the building, The first thing that struck me was how clean, bright and airy the restaurant area was. The decor was really modern and quite contemporary with one or two really cool art pieces gracing the cream walls. Although the main colour in the restaurant was cream and brown lots of bright orange was introduced in order to create a warm and intimate ambience. I was also impressed with the overhead lighting as it was very subtle and not too bright and glaring.
As soon as we entered we were greeted by a waitress who showed us to our large and spacious table. There was plenty of room for placing our dishes and drinks and you weren't squashed up like in other chain restaurants.
The waitress was extremely friendly and efficient. She could see from the badge on my sons shirt that he was five. She therefore made a huge fuss of him and brought balloons, chefs hats to colour in and crayons to the table. I was really impressed with this gesture as it made my son feel really special. Even my 9 year old daughter enjoyed colouring in the hats. Thus keeping them quiet while us adults caught up on the local gossip. I also privately asked the waitress if she could bring out the cake I had brought with me at the end of the meal. True to her word she brought out the cake with the candles lit and most of the people in the restaurant joined in with a rip roaring happy birthday. My son was both surprised and thrilled with this as he likes a bit of fuss.
The food that we had ordered was delivered quickly to our table. We all went for the happy hour menu. Which was fantastic value for money. I don't think you would be able to recreate the meal at home for cheaper. The happy hour menu consists of a choice of pizzas. these are cheese and tomato, ham and pineapple, chicken and sweetcorn or pepperoni (with a choice of jalapeno peppers for the more daring of taste buds!). If you are not up for pizza, there is a choice of pasta dishes and salad dishes also. My brother-in-law was the only one who had the chicken salad and it looked really delicious and well presented. The rest of us opted for pizza. I would say that the pizza was a small dinner plate size. It was very filling and enough to satisfy an adult appetite. The toppings on the pizza were fresh and delicious. They weren't mean with the toppings either. The crust of the pizza was deep pan and the dough was quite light and very well cooked neither being too hard or soft.
Along with the pizza we also had as part of the happy hour deal, a side dish. You could either have the potato wedges or garlic bread. We all opted for the wedges which came on a side plate, this was accompanied by a bowl of the most delicious BBQ sauce. Again they were generous with the portions and I was impressed at how piping hot the wedges were. They were really yummy. Also as part of the deal we all had a glass of coke. But you could choose from a range of soft drinks.
On the happy hour menu you were then given the option of a desert of cheesecake in three flavours for an extra £1. The choices of flavour were lemon and ginger, clotted cream or chocolate. I had the chocolate cheesecake and it again was well presented. And a delight for any chocoholic. I on the other hand found the chocolate flavour very rich and couldn't finish the desert.
The price of this happy hour menu I have kept as a surprise till the end for you. All this food and a drink for £4 each yes £4!! I was so impressed, as we had a fantastic meal that didn't break the bank. The happy hour is on every weekday from 4 till 6. and it is well worth making the effort to get there between these times for this amazing deal.
The only one little thing that I could pick up on was that the ice cream machine was broken. My little boy was a bit disappointed with this, as he likes to make his own ice cream. However the waitress provided a delicious bowl of scooped ice cream and my little boy was then allowed to go and decorate his ice cream with smarties, marshmallows and chocolate drops.
I Would recommend giving this restaurant a try, I have been to a few different pizza huts across the country and I have to say I am always impressed by the quality and cost of the food. They are a very child friendly organisation and tonight the standard of service we received was exceptional. Well done Pizza hut you provided us with happy memories of my sons fifth birthday celebrations. Got the main party on Saturday now with 40 kids and a bouncy castle. Not sure this is going to be such as pleasant an experience for me ..... HELP!!!!!

Summary: review of pizza hut and why I was very impressed.
