Advantages: tastes quite nice, good choice
Disadvantages: some dishes a bit pricey for what they are, can make you feel very ill if you overdo it
I have eaten at Pizza Hut several times in the past, so rather than a review on a particular visit to the restuarant, this is a review on my experiences with Pizza Hut in general.
--Cleanliness & Hygiene--
I have never really had an issue with cleanliness at Pizza Hut. Tables are cleaned and wiped prior to people being seated at them, and I have never noticed anything else unhygienic or unclean at any of the Pizza Hut branches I have visitied. Crockery and cutlery has always seemed clean, and I think in most branches the food preparation area is fairly visible, and that looks clean too. I've not exactly had a full inspection of the kitchens but from what I can see at a glance, everything seems fine. The toilets aren't amazing, but not too bad either. Pretty bog standard (haha.)
--Service and Waiting Time--
Once you go into Pizza Hut you are normally greeted within a couple of minutes and asked how many people you require a table for. Obviously how long you will have to wait varies on what time of day you go, however even in peak times I have never had to wait more than around 5-10 minutes for a table. I am normally seated straight away though. Most Pizza Hut staff have been friendly and chatty, with the odd exception-but I suppose you get that most places, especially in large chains. Food ordered normally arrives within a reasonably quick timeframe, I've certainely never had to complain about waiting too long for a meal. Of course if you opt for the lunchtime buffet then you don't have to wait at all, you can just get a plate and start going wild. Pizza Hut also offer unlimited refills on soft drinks, and I have always thought staff have been quite good at noticing when your drink is empty or running low and offering you a refill.
--Choice of food--
I personally feel the menu offers a good choice of food. As you would expect, the menu mainly consists of pizza, afterall, I'm sure most people who choose to dine at Pizza Hut do so because they fancy a pizza. There are several different topping choices to choose from including some vegetarian ones, and 'create your own' so you can always just pick exactly what toppings you want. You can also choose different bases, including stuffed crust, and deep ban. Over the last few years Pizza Hut seem to have added several things to their menu, you can now choose from several pasta or salad dishes as well as pizza. There is also a nice range of starters and desserts, including cheese melts for starter, and hot cookie dough for dessert. All in all I would say Pizza Hut does a good range of not only pizza, but other dishes too.
--Taste of food--
Well obviously I can't comment on everything on the menu (I haven't eaten QUITE that much Pizza Hut) but I have always enjoyed the food I have had there. I have always found the pizzas tasty but very very filling, so although sometimes the portions may not seem huge, they suffice. I have tried a couple of pasta dishes which didn't blow me away but were nice and simple, and I have no complaints about them. Same goes for most of the food to be honest, I have no complaints but it's not amazing. The pizzas can sometimes be pretty greasy and have god knows how many calories in them, but I think Pizza Hut as an occasional treat is nice.
To be honest, I find Pizza Hut a bit expensive for what it is. I normally pay around £20 if I have a starter, share a pizza, have a dessert, and have a drink. I know £20 doesn't sound that much for three courses and a drink, but I know a lot of higher quality places where you can pay the same and get a nicer meal. Having said that I don't think it's ridiculously expensive, just a little. Obviously if you have the buffet you can have as much pizza as you like for around £6.50...which can work out cheaply, depending on how much you can scoff. I personally find it too filling to eat too much, but probably do just about get my moneys worth on the buffet.
--Summary and other points--
To summarise, I do enjoy pizza hut, and go there every now and then for a quick and simple meal. I have no major complaints with it, and have found nearly every branch I've been in (around 6) to be about the same level of quality. The main thing I don't like about Pizza Hut is how full and sick it can make you feel if you overdo it!
Summary: Nice simple and quick meal
