Advantages: Good family atmosphere, okay tasting food, cheap
Disadvantages: Salad bar is not great and the decor is very oudated
Watching the new pizza hut adverts, with the special offers makes you feel inclined to have at least one meal there. The 'special offers' that are currently on are 'kids eat free', 'happy hour' and 'free unlimited salad'. Just to mention that I've noticed that the 'kids eat free' offer started in the summer of 2010 as a summer only offer, which was then extended till Christmas and here it still is, so I wouldn't worry about it not being around for long. The unlimited salad is probably a scheme to make Pizza Hut healthier and it certainly does make it more appealing.
The interior of most Pizza Huts are particularly outdated and the tables don't give a high end marketing so I'd only really take my kids here and possibly go with friends. There is a buffet option of pizza, pasta and salad however you must remember that unlimited salad is free and you should take advantage of this offer as it stands. Happy hour lasts from 3 o'clock to 5 o'clock and features a limited menu for just £5 which I think is a very good bargain.
Happy hour menu:
Pizza: Margherita, Mushroom & Red Onion, Ham & Sweetcorn, Chicken & Red Onion, Pepperoni
Pasta: Bolognese pasta, Four Cheese & Vegetable pasta
plus the unlimited salad
plus one side of garlic bread or potato wedges
plus one drink (50p extra to make it refillable)
This is all for £5 so I do think that it is a great deal but what about the quality of the food?
The unlimited salad buffet consists of dry carrots, sour fruit and other sorry looking veg with pasta covered in mayonnaise. The adverts in which the salad is shown is very misleading and it did not live up to my expectations.
My garlic bread arrived just as I was finishing my salad and along with it was the chicken and red onion pizza I had ordered which was reasonably sized as from past experience, I have noticed the pizza size has been in decline. It was actually a very good pizza with my optional thick base and had good flavours, if a little too much salt.
I was left extremely full from the meal as I had more than one helping of the salad and so I didn't have room for a pudding.
The customer service was excellent, the waiters and waitresses were very genuine and friendly and always around if in need. Overall it was a good family meal and not at a large cost, so I was happy with it but they really could improve the salad bar and a little revamp of decor.
Summary: Overall we had a good night out and the service was great and we weren't kept waiting for long
