PizzalandNewest Review: ... moved to the Retail Park, Pizza Express carried on with its posher customers. Pizzaland cleared up and moved to bigger premises. What I really like about Pizzaland is that youi can keep an eye on the Chef as you can see him cooking your food. No chance of nasties being put in there! The Salad bad can be purchased as an "all you can eat" buffet option. I think its about £2.95 and unlimited refills. Handy for the Veggies amongst your party. The Lunchtime Buffet option is good. 7.95 for as much pizza as you can eat. They also do specials on buying a bucket of beers for about £10. Handy if theres a few alcoholics amoongst your part... more |

When I used to eat in the town on a Saturday night during my student days, it was a choice of Pizza, Pizza or Pizza! There were 3 restaurants to choose from for your Pizza delicacy! 1)Pizza Hut. Market Leader that we all know. 2)Pizza Express. A more jazzy version. A bit like a posh version of a Pizza shop! 3)Pizzaland. A cheaper version of Pizza Hut and it had better deals. While Pizza Hut moved to the Retail Park, Pizza Express carried on with its posher customers. Pizzaland cleared up and moved to bigger premises. Pizzaland used to be one of the leaders in its field in the late '80s and could always be counted on for quality and service, so what went wrong? My guess is that when they started closing restaurants in 1990 people became extremely dissatisfied with the way they treated everyone. Instead of concentrating on customer service and quality they decided to go for profit. I actually worked in a Pizzaland for 5 years before being made redundant when it closed. They shut my shop down (I was the manager) because we weren't making the profit margin they required although we were the most popular place to eat in town! There's no real point in listing ... The last time I was at a Pizzaland was just over a year ago and it was a good feed that I got there. As far as I know they were having a special offer. They were doing a all you can eat buffet for £5. Also you could get your glasses of juice filled up non stop for £2.50. Now I am a serious bargain hunter, and after a busy day shopping and all of us being starving we headed here to see if we could get a good meal for not too much money. They had a large kind of table which the food was sunk in. It kept the cool stuff cool and the hot stuff hot without drying it out. There was salad, 4 bowls of pasta - a tomato one, a creamy cheesy one, ... Read the complete review

I have been to Pizzaland... once. Will I ever return? Not on your nelly! With numerous decent pizza chains in the country, Pizzaland strikes me as a bit of a "me too" operation, tagging along to the British fondness for pizza - but unfortunately failing to recognise that some of us also have a fondness for quality. Perhaps it is a little unfair to judge them on the strength of one visit, but first impressions do count and that visit certainly lost them two customers for good. It was a very busy evening when we went and they ran out of tins for making deep pan pizzas. O.K., every restaurant gets busy, but they know how many seats they've got, so ...
