I have been to Pizzaland... once. Will I ever return? Not on your nelly!
With numerous decent pizza chains in the country, Pizzaland strikes me as a bit of a "me too" operation, tagging along to the British fondness for pizza - but unfortunately failing to recognise that some of us also have a fondness for quality.
Perhaps it is a little unfair to judge them on the strength of one visit, but first impressions do count and that visit certainly lost them two customers for good. It was a very busy evening when we went and they ran out of tins for making deep pan pizzas. O.K., every restaurant gets busy, but they know how many seats they've got, so surely it would be a pretty simple calculation to discover how many tins they need.
We therefore had to order a thin crust pizza. This would not have been too much of a hardship had it been cooked. After nibbling round the edges, we couldn't bring ourselves to continue to the cold, soggy centre so complained and thankfully got our money back. This was after having to wait for a second pizza to be brought when the first one had the wrong toppings.
So, I'm sure plenty of people will be able to insist that they have had the best meal of their life in Pizzaland, but as for me, I'll stick to Deep Pan Pizza every time.
