Restaurants in Cornwall in generalNewest Review: ... think the White Pyramid has changed hands since the last review, the food menu is more extensive than mentioned, huge portions and very reasonably priced. We stayed three nights in the B&B rooms which were clean and comfortable the breakfasts like the restaurant meals were huge. The crew running the pub are all friendly and do not seem to think that anything is too much to help. They have spent a lot of time refurbishing the pub . In all a great place to eat or stop just pull in to the large car park and I am sure you will be made welcome.... more |

We decided to eat at The 'White Pyramid' based on the previous review, and because the place was on a recommended list of pubs given to us by the farmer whose campsite we were staying at. We were bitterly disappointed. Maybe it has changed management? I don't know, but I certainly would not recommend the place any more. Firstly it took quite a long time to find, because its name has changed to 'The Bell' - we found this out at the local shop in Trewoon. My family never ate out much - my dad would begrudge paying money when Tescos was cheaper and genuinely believed that the meat was always dodgy! I grew up believing that all foreign food involved cooking rats, cats and dogs!! Even to this day my dad has never had a Chinese! Now I able to make my own mind up on food, and since moving away from Cornwall I have experienced a wealth of different foods and tastes. I have been weaned off my staple cornish diet of pasties, ... The White Pyramid is located in what some call the ‘clay country’ of Cornwall. It is situated in a village outside St. Austell called Trewoon (pronounced true-un). You will find it on the right-hand side of the road as you head out of St. Austell, towards Edgecumbe Green, St Dennis and ultimately, Newquay. It’s precise location is between Edgcumbe Green and St Dennis. The restaurant itself is reasonably sized, with a pub type eating area at the front and the main restaurant seating area at the back, away from the bar. The service is friendly but the food can take a little time to arrive at your table. Usually you are seated at the front of the ... Read the complete review
