Restaurants in Devon in generalNewest Review: ... see the size of the garden and play equipment that was available. my husband went to the bar was served promptly and politely and he picked up some menus. we ordered our food which was served in about 25 mins and very reasonably priced. we were all very hungry and planned to have puddings after and had all eyed up the deserts board which was to die for! when the food arrived we were astounded at portion size, they were very generous! we all ate our tasty well prepared imaginative meals and had to wait about half an hour after eating to decide whether or not to have pudding. but we could not resist and each had a pud, we are already planning... more |

The Trout Inn Bickleigh nr tiverton. We recently visited the trout on our holiday, we arrived and our 4 children were delighted to see the size of the garden and play equipment that was available. my husband went to the bar was served promptly and politely and he picked up some menus. we ordered our food which was served in about 25 mins and very reasonably priced. we were all very hungry and planned to have puddings after and had all eyed up the deserts board which was to die for! when the food arrived we were astounded at portion size, they were very generous! we all ate our tasty well prepared imaginative meals and had to wait about half an hour after eating to ... I totally agree with John. We stay at The Trout twice a year and always eat there. The food is excellent and the service is second to none (and all at great prices too!!) I find Mish's comments totally irrelevant as nowhere do they proclaim to be riverside and he should have realised this when he parked his car and CROSSED THE ROAD!!!! Their beer garden is very large and well kept and totally in keep with a 300 year old building. The inside of the building is that of a traditional thatched inn of olde times and really stands out compared to today's modern pubs. It has real character throughout and original Oak beams. Well worth a ... Read the complete review

As a regular at the Trout Inn I must take issue with Mish, they don’t advertise as overlooking the river or having a view so what exactly is your point? As for the unimaginative garden, there are certificates in the bar to show they have won prizes for their flowers I know they had some in the beer garden but some customers don’t control their kids and they have ruined them. At the risk of sounding like Basil Fawlty, what do you expect in a country pub, the hanging gardens of Babylon, Disneyland!!! Yes when you come in from the sunlight it is dark, it has a low beamed ceiling and to retain the atmosphere of a 17th century inn, no fluorescent lights, as for ... Read the complete review

The Trout Inn is a restaurant pub in Bickleigh, Devon. You drive past it and park on the opposite side of the road. At this moment, you would have passed the river over the little stone bridge and the setting appears idyllic…But looks can be deceiving. For the Trout Inn is not located over looking the river, it’s just off the side of the road, and has no views at all, save it’s own unimaginative garden. Having parked, we entered the establishment and were greeted with a dark, smokey interior that had an instant ‘unfriendly’ air. Perhaps at this second, we should have upped and left to somewhere else, but we thought we’d give them a ... Read the complete review

Searching for somewhere pleasant to eat in Kingsbridge, South Devon, we stumbled upon a fantastic little place known as the Pig Finca. It is situated about 200 yards up into the town on the right hand side from the main car park near the tourist information centre. The restaurant is set back off the main road slightly. As soon as you enter the place you are subjected to a wonderful aroma of jossticks and very tranquil music. The restaurant is situated upstairs from the bar although you can eat outside in the attractive courtyard if you wish. As you walk upstairs you are surrounded by wonderful deep rich colours both on the wooden staircase ... Read the complete review
