Advantages: Nice easy to get to, Quiet , Peaceful

Disadvantages: On main road

If you live in the North London around the Barnet/Finchley area, then I suggest taking a walk/bus/unicycle/cab (but not a car cause there is no need) down to whetstone for meal.

Whetstone is situated on the Northern line, a few minutes up the hill from Totteridge and Whetstone station. Also on 6 bus routes include night bus(if you dare) it has those toilet cubicles, cash machines and all shops are on the main high road (great north road A1000)

It has changed quite a lot in recent years, to become row upon row of restaurants, to such an extent that the council will not allow anymore licenses.

Its quite a posh area, famous for being quiet and specialist clothes shops that no-one goes into, I think they are owned by wives of rich people in Totteridge.

So what is your choice?

Italian

Ask Pizza - (pizza chain, better than boring Pizza Express, even though its owned by the same people I think) good food, they cater well for kids.

La Tavola - Very cheap, homely, tasty, family run italian, quite cramped. On my last visit some of the food was a warm rather than pipping hot.

Al Fresco - Italian, plus other ranges expensive. Quite limited time allocation on a table, but interested to hear other peoples opinions.

Ambra - Take away and eat in Italian deli/sandwiches, they have lovely fresh ciabatta bread, food choices changes depending what is in stock, good food. Be carefuly not to overcook food when you take it home.

Euro-Pizza - chain eat in but mainly take away, do a great hagen daz pizza deal for a tenner, real nice.

Indian - Only one named Himalaya, not greatest curry house but OK.

Haven - Poshest restaurant in Whetstone, food is wonderous, you have to book up. Has a wine bar at front. Costs about 35 a-head, they do special lunch deals.

Chinse restaurants (will find out the names)

Chinese buffet restaurant - I do not know the name but avoid!!!
>
Chinese Take away by laundrette, even worse than the buffet!!! avoid twice.

Chinese restaurant opposite B&Q, superb take away and eat in, very good, quite posh.

Turkish restaurant not been into heard good things, anyone have comments?

Selection of five cafes not been into, anyone have comments?

Fish and Chipy not bad, anyone have comments?

Kebabs shops, not bad will deliver.

Jenny Burgers, best milkshake in the north of London.

Black Bull - pub food nice, relaxing atmosphere with log fires.

Other pubs, any comments?

Marks and Spencers, in case you can't find anything go and get some sandwiches from there you can't go wrong.

So which one is the best, well, hmmm, yes, I think a visit to Ask Pizza is on order. A large selection, reasonable prices, good service, tasty food.

Hi charie, I enjoyed your op, but I was dying to read a little bit more and I'm really curious to know which one is your favourite.
