Advantages: Good food

Disadvantages: Hostile atmosphere engendered by staff

Restaurant on the whole good. Newly opened and much anticipated adjoining winebar a complete disappointment based on a most unfortunate experience on our first visit.

Has to be said food still good. However, service both incompetent and unhelpful (how does a waitress imagine that a round table measuring no more than two foot in diameter seating a party of four can be expected to accommodate no fewer than eight plates of food when brought simultaneously?).

Owner, whilst usually fairly obsequious, went into a rather strange and entirely unnecessary 'Basil Fawlty' routine, becoming extremely aggressive when I politely enquired as to where my guests and I were supposed to balance the plates. He responded by saying 'This is not a restaurant, you know!' (how bizarre - I thought it was).

Would not recommend this place to anyone requiring anything other than a quick beer or cup of coffee.

Haven Bar & Restaurant is surprisingly good. The combination of food and service is tremendous.
Romantic decor that hints of exoticism, soft light, and loungey sofas for the pre-dinner, to be enjoyed with an aperitif from the excellent bar, which boasts a broad range of cocktails. You can have a snack in the lounge space (bar area) if things are going well for you, or give yourself a second choice by moving to a restaurant area. Remember to book well in advance. I saw people queuing to get in Haven. The waiter staff will add to this atmosphere by explaining the menu into a smallest detail and suggesting perfect things for you.
All in all this one's a winner, to be used, like wine, just for the right occasion. Think Chateneuf-du-Pape rather than Vin-de-Pays. Highly recommended.

Well said Julius!

The criticism of Haven Bistro and Bar is totally unfounded and unfair. I happen to know that BasilFaulty actually sat down with three friends around a small bar table (only enough room for one or two of Havens stunning cocktails). They were in the BAR area (NOT in the restaurant) and chose to order eight plates of food between them. Well of course there was never going to be enough room on the table (they knew that) - as the owner said, 'it wasn't part of the restaurant'. How can they then complain that there was no room to eat! My advice to you BasilFaulty is next time book well in advance and you may be lucky enough to reserve a proper table in the restaurant. A clear case of 'sour grapes' guys! Try Haven.. it's superb!

Haven Bistro & Bar is the best Restaurant in North London, its fully booked every night, you will need to reserve your table 2 month ahead to get a reservation on a Saturday. The Bar has been added on 3 Month ago for people to have a cocktail and listen to live piano music. Seating is very comfortable, tables are very small, so its not suitable for full meals. Look at photographs on haven's website to msee for your self or even better pop in for a glass of champagne or one of our famous cocktails.
Basilfawlt y2 you need to get your act together on eating out.
