Advantages: Milkshakes!!!
Disadvantages: Only avaliable in Southampton & Bournemouth
After a busy morning of Christmas shopping in Southampton, we needed an energy boost. What better way of getting this boost than discovering Shakeaway in the Bargate Centre? Shakeaway is a clean, young, vibrant fast food place with a difference. It stocks fresh sandwiches, rolls, pita bread, fruit, soft drinks, snacks, crisps, chocolate but best of all it sells MILKSHAKES! Yeah so, you might be saying to yourself! What is so special about a milkshake? We can pop into McDonalds and pick up a strawberry, chocolate or vanilla shake. If you pop into Shakeaway you can pick up any of the following truly delightful and mouth-watering milkshakes: Milk Chocolate Digestive, Twix, Hazelnut chocolate chip, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Hershey’s Cookies n Crème, Curly Wurly, Malteser, Fuse, Blueberry Nutragrain, Chocolate BN Biscuit, Pear, Strawberry, Coconut, Mandarin, Lemon & Lime, Apple & Blackberry, Walnut Whip, Oreo Cookie, Milk Chocolate Hob Nob, Chocolate Muffin, Toffee Popcorn, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Kit Kat (Chunky), Crunchie, Lemon Curd, Cherry, Custard, Mars, Honey, Coffee, Fudge, Marshmallow, Liquorice Allsorts, Passion Fruit, Jelly babies, Caramel, Bounty, Terry’s Chocolate Orange, Fruit & Nut, Syrup Sponge, Battenburg cake, Cappuccino, Apple, Pineapple, Melon, Rolo, Lion Bar, Banana, Turkish Delight, Peanut Butter, Jaffa Cake, After Eight, Skittles, Wheetabix (yes!), Iced Gems, Bakewell Tart, Refreshers, Jammie Dodgers, Wagon Wheels, Farley’s Rusk, Ginger Nuts, Crème Egg, Minstrels, Milky Bar, Ferrerro Rocher, Jelly Tots, Sherbert Fountain and more! Are you impressed now? Wait just hold on a minute I haven’t finished. Not only can you choose from these flavours but you can mix and match different others! You can even add whipped cream, custard and/or some excellent toppings such as smarties, flake, popcorn, nuts etc. Are you convinced now? Well if that wasn’t enough you can add bran, protein, muscle
builder or malt! As if you needed any extra calories? ; ) We decided to opt for the plain old boring malteser and curly wurly milkshake. WOW! What an excellent choices! These were better than excellent and had to be the best milkshakes we have ever tasted! Shakeaway state that it takes the average person just over 4 ½ minutes to decide what milkshake they want. We were no exceptions! Our choices were turning out to be very difficult! We ended up asking the assistant what she recommended. Once our choices were made, they pop the ingredients into a blender, along with some ice cream and milk and after about 3 minutes we had our yummy milkshakes. We paid just over £8.00 for a cheese salad sandwich (£1.69), coronation chicken pita (£1.89) and two milkshakes (approx £4.50 – depends on the flavour). We thoroughly recommend Shakeaway’s milkshakes but its sandwiches were also first class and reasonable price. They have a special offer on at the moment. If you buy 10 shakes and get a card stamped you get a complimentary shake of your choice on the house! I’m already there! Bournemouth has a Shakeway in Post Office Road too! Commiserations to the rest of the country for missing out! If you possess a blender, a packet of malteser (or anything else that took your fancy) and about ½ pint of milk you could try your hand at making these milkshakes. If you are evil like me, you wait until the children have gone to bed so you don’t have to give them a single drop! We very highly recommended both Shakeaway and their shakes - the curly wurly milkshake was marginally better than the malteser shake by the way. Southampton Shakeaway is open daily from 9:00am – 5:30pm and 10:30am – 4:30pm on Sundays. Shakeaway has it’s very only website so that you can drool at its delicious milkshakes!
