Newest Review: ... to walk out by then, but my partner was determined to sit it out. In the meantime, two other couples had arrived and were treated to a similar long wait and they appeared to be totally invisible to any passing waiting staff. At no time during our long wait were any of us offered a drink or even a menu! In the end both couples left (Good for them!) but by then our starters had arrived and we carried on, thinking it was just a temporary glitch in the kitchen. [I watch 'Hell's Kitchen' on TV and that even happens to Gordon Ramsey] The main course arrived after yet another long wait, with still no apology for the delay and the food was onl... more

Woodman's Cottage: What a waste of space! I took my partner out for a romantic Valentine's Day meal to to The Woodman's Cottage. I'd never been there before, but it sounded interesting from its review in the local press. On arrival, we were totally ignored for several minutes until an obviously harrassed waitress showed us to a table, where we waited for over 25 minutes while other customers were being served. I was ready to walk out by then, but my partner was determined to sit it out. In the meantime, two other couples had arrived and were treated to a similar long wait and they appeared to be totally invisible to any passing waiting staff. At no ... Read the complete review

The Woodmans Cottage in Gorefield near Wisbech is my favourite restaurant i have been to in England. The reason being - they do the most loveliest desserts ever!!! When you get to it (it is located near Wisbech in a small village called Gorefield), you go inside and it looks so warm and inviting. On cold days they have a nice log fire going. When you go in, there is a bar and you usually have to order a table beforehand as it is very busy in there! You can choose to have your meal in the bar or in the restaurant out the back! If you don't like busy restaurants then this is not the place for you - though the food is excellent in mine and my ... Read the complete review

You're in Kings Lynn, the clubs are closing and as you walk out into the night air and sniff the tantalising aromas in the air, your outh starts to water and your belly cries - "Feed me!". Where do you go? Well, in the wee hours of the morning, Norfolk Street is the one to head to, and in particular, a tasty little take-out known as "Chilli Masters". Be prepared to wait, although service is fast and efficient, the sheer volume of customers that pour in at the end of a night out means you can expect it to be a few minutes if you're at the back of the queue. They have a varied menu - my favourite is chicken tikka naan. Spicy chicken ... Read the complete review

We spent last week in a boat on the Norfolk Broads. By and large we had a great time. Some of the riverside pubs looked really inviting but you had to be really lucky with a mooring. Trust our luck then, to find the odd one out. There is one stretch of water which, if you want to avoid spending £14 for a mooring in Great Yarmouth, must be accomplished in one hit as there is nowhere else to stop. This is the stretch between either Reedham on the Yare or St Olaves on the Waveney, through Yarmouth and out on the Bure towards Acle. A distance of about 10 miles in both cases. After three hours steaming, you reach the Stracey Arms Windpump, a large mooring with ... Read the complete review

There are a couple of these that I know of in Norfolk, one being in Fakenham and the other in East Dereham. They are both relatively new. It is a trendy place where you get plenty of food for your money. The one thing this place doesn't give you is service. You have to go to the bar and place your order and pay at the same time and you also have to get your own cutlery and sauces. The food is bought out to you and taken away but that's it, you also have to order and pay for your desserts at the bar. But nevertheless this is one great place to go, they do these big plate specials and you have never seen such a huge plate in your life! They ... Read the complete review
