Angelo and Maria run this friendly restaurant, to be found in Culmington Parade, diagonally opposite Ealing Fire Station in the Uxbridge Rd, W5. The restaurant was used for the outside scenes in the dramatisation of "The Jump". We have been eating there for years, despite the fact that it's a 12 mile round trip for us. It seems a large proportion of their customers are locals who come again and again. It's not difficult to see why. The meze, a seemingly no-stop stream of hors d'oeuvres, is enormous, (17 dishes the last time we were brave enough!). A la carte dishes are similarly generous. All the usual greek/eastern med dishes are here, hoummus, taramasalata etc plus items more proper to Cyprus like the Cypriot Stiffado, a succulent beef casserole. Many of the menu items come in starter or main course sizes, so it's a good way of involving the kids in what your eating - I like kids but I couldn't eat a whole one! Real Keo beer and Cypriot wines are listed, as are Greek and others. Huge portions, a warm welcome and very reasonable prices - so what are you waiting for? I can remember their number off by heart - 020 8567 7165. Saturdays definitely need booking. You can see their menu at http://www.ealingbiz.co.uk/retsina
