Whilst looking for Vittorio's Telephone number I thought I misread something on the web page (google search) but NO! Someone, in fact two, separate people (apparently but no guarantee), had rather negative comments about the restaurant! Apart from not being able to spell half the words they wrote, and in poor English, made me wonder if they were the same person. However, I really must put the record straight. This restaurant is renowned for being one of the very best in South Wales and beyond and everyone I know who has been there agrees 100% but I imagine that if the writers of the two negative reviews did not have a satisfactory meal for whatever reason then it must be said that it surely cannot be with the food! I have dined there on many occasions and like every other eating establishment in the WORLD there are always going to be issues with the staff etc. and years ago we had a small occurrence whereby the plates were plonked a bit hastily onto the table in response to my request for a sauce other than that supplied by default by the chef himself. Basically, rather like other top chefs, he took umbrage at this seemingly superfluous appeal for a change to the prescribed menu!!! It certainly could have been taken the wrong way by us but being a lover of Fawlty Towers saw the funny side, and unlike said comedy, did in fact receive my sauce of choice along with the main course.

I can only surmise that the two sour comments here on this website have been penned by such people as do not enjoy a laugh enough, take life a little too seriously and definitely don't watch UK Gold TV! The reviews were also written some time ago and if the restaurant was that bad they would not be there today - but they are - and are doing so well that they had a recent revamp with a lot of money spent - what do the Americans say? - Go Figure!

I hope my experience and comments are appreciated and that many more people have the chance to go to a restaurant where each of the courses are every bit as good as each other, the wine choice fantastic, the service slow enough so as not too give the impression you are in a drive-through and staff that are human as well! It gives you time to talk, digest and have fun in the company you are in - and surely that it is the essence of a good restaurant (apart from the excellent food)?
