The first two times we ate at the Rushcutter, the food was average. However, it's a very attractive riverside pub, and we do a lot of boating on the Broads. During the summer, it's not always easy to find a mooring near a decent pub or restaurant, so we thought we would give it another go. situated in a lovely location, however extremely poor customer service. Food was clearly re-heated and some still cold (grilled mushroom was stone cold), foreign object (sharp plastic) was found in the middle of burger and management accepted no responsibility, reluctantly apologized and gave very small voucher as compensation, not even equal to meal's worth. Very abrupt and confrontational tone, despite polite waitresses, lovely surroundings and beautiful day, would not return to this establishment ever again. Problems with meal were blamed on suppliers, food clearly not made freshly, and we were advised to speak directly to the suppliers ... Read the complete review

The Rushcutters - Norwich This pub is a dear pub close to my heart, as it is where my now husband took me on our first date. It is a Chef & Brewer pub, and is situated in Thorpe St Andrew next to the river. It is a huge beautiful listed building, very traditional with little nooks and crannies for you to find to sit in. There is a menu which is available all the time, which has traditional fayre such as lasagne and fish and chips - traditional pub food, but there is also an immense specials board. The specials board usually has about 10 or more main dishes to choose from, and it is exceedingly difficult to make your selection of ... Read the complete review

After going to the rushcutters various times, i decided to venture back to this once pleasant restaurant. We ordered off both the set and special menu, as our food arrived the the lamb cutlet was sent back as there was no more than a mouthful of meat between the four pieces, the was not enough hollandiase sauce and had no taste. I then got a replacement meal - fish and chips, this again was tasteless and for it being beer battered i tasted nothing. Not at one time was i apologised to or taken interest in. Both the waiter and the barmaid were rude, after asking for the bill i was then made to feel pressured to pay immediately as the waiter stood, awaiting the payment. ... Read the complete review

When my boyfriend and I come to visit we try and find the time to have a meal together, which is usually at the local pub, but recently it has lost favour (chef left and wasn't replaced) so the whole clan have been going further afield to find a place to get an hour or two of quality family togetherness. The Rushcutters Arms is on Yarmouth Road which, most simply explained can be found if you leave the train station on Thorpe Road heading for Great Yarmouth. As you leave the city and get into Thorpe St Andrew Thorpe Road becomes Yarmouth Road and just before you get to Thunder Lane (on your left) you will see the Rushcutters on your right hand ...
