Advantages: delicious food, great atmosphere, friendly staff
Disadvantages: we go too often!
Salute Restaurant and Bar holds a prominent position in Rothwell, Leeds, next to Holy Trinity Church, housed in the old White Swan pub building hence its full name of Salute @ The White Swan.
Some people will remember the Salute Restaurant and Bar of old at Oulton, but it is a very different place since relocating into Rothwell when the old premises were knocked down to make way for a Lidl supermarket!
Salute is just what Rothwell has been waiting for, a decent restaurant and bar. The makeover of the White Swan premises is brilliant and unrecognisible as the pub it was. The décor is tasteful and subtle and the atmosphere is relaxing. The bar and restaurant are separate areas, the bar being a more relaxed and comfortable area and the restaurant is more formal, you can eat in either area the menu and service is exactly the same. Background music plays, but it is very quiet, the lighting is good and there are always fresh flowers on the tables. Opening hours are 12 noon till 11pm every day.
Salute Restaurant and Bar has an Italian basis with the main dishes being Pasta and Pizza, but there are plenty of other meals with a more English feel. There is an A la Carte Menu available at all times then in addition there are daily specials and an Early Bird Menu. The Early Bird menu is served Monday to Friday 12 noon till 7pm and Saturdays 12 noon to 5pm, it costs £10.95 for 2 courses with coffee and £13.95 for 3 courses with coffee, it is excellent value. On the A La Carte Menu starters cost around £5.00, main courses approximately £12 and sweets are £4.75. Pizzas and Pastas cost around £9. There is also a brilliant kids menu with a main course, sweet and drink for £4.95. Sunday lunch is served 12 noon till 6pm priced at £8.95 for 1 course up to £15.00 for 3 courses, excellent value for money and very popular.

The quality of the food is excellent; it is freshly prepared and well presented. Gluten free pasta and pizzas are available.
The bar area can be booked for parties. It is a lovely area and we have had our daughters christening party in there and also a fundraising event for cancer research. Buffets menus are available and are priced from £9.95 per head to £13.95 per head.

We have been customers of Salute Restaurant and Bar for several years now, we go in most weeks and are well known by the staff. Our daughter who is now 1 year old, has been going in since she was just a few days old, all the staff make a fuss of her, she is enjoying sampling the menu and loves the complimentary breadsticks and after eight mints!
There are special menus for events such as Christmas, New Year, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day, they sound excellent and are very popular. We wanted to book for New Year's Eve, but left it too late; it was booked up by mid November!
More information about Salute @The White Swan can be found at http://www.saluteleeds.co.uk/index.htm or by calling 0113 282 0508.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Justine Gregory (director) and her staff who have made us feel very welcome at Salute and made some very traumatic events in our lives more bearable.
Summary: Excellent restaurant just what Rothwell needs
