Advantages: The food isn't the worst in town.

Disadvantages: Overpriced for what it is.

I can only assume the reviewer who has rated San Pietro so highly is either employed there, or they have never ventured out of Scunthorpe.

When i visited San Pietro, albeit neigh on a year ago, the lasting memory of the restaurant was unsuccessful, pretentious food with a hefty price tag.

The menu system was confusing and even though myself and my lunching partner chose to follow set menus which added up to around twenty-five pounds each and had only a drink each, we some how ended up paying in excess of sixty pounds!

San Pietro while not awful, delivers only mediocre food at best but prices itself as though it were a jewel of the michelin guide. The poncy 'wannabe-gourmet' style doesn't live up to the quality of the cooking.

In conclusion the food here is all smoke and no fire, while not bad definitely not value for money. Would not recommend unless you have an excess of cash and an under tuned pallet.

Summary: Advisable only if you have an excess of cash and don't want to make the effort to leave town.

I hear a lot about the place, as I work in Brigg (in hospitality/foodservices) . I also have heard mixed reviews, and no I have never worked there..

Sorry about that I will bare this in mind for future reviews.

As for this one, the food wasn't bad per se however it just wasn't up to the standard that the price demanded as far as I'm concerned.

The skill of the cooking wasn't that high quality, there was an overuse of garlic butter on every single dish.

The food seemed pretentious in that the chef obviously wanted it to come across as michelin star class cooking when in reality it was little more than dinner party cooking smothered in garlic butter.

Useful to know but would have been very interested to know more about the food and what was wrong with it.
