Spicy Hut (Manchester)

Description: Spicy Hut / 35 Wilmslow Rd / Rusholme / Manchester, M145TB. / Tel:0161 248 6200 / At the city end of Rusholme, Spicy ... more
Spicy Hut (Manchester) ... Hut recently bagged two prestigious curry chef awards – it won the Manchester heat and came third in the northwest. It also scored particularly highly on hygiene, which is always nice to know where restaurants are concerned. Spicy Hut opened two years ago and is spread over two levels – downstairs a 67-seater restaurant and above a function room that can cater for parties of up to 55. The restaurant, although generically an Indian, actually specializes in Pakistani cuisine, meaning stronger flavours but less heat (ie less emphasis on chilli). The chef also prides himself on using no food colouring – everything is natural. As well as Pakistani cuisine, Spicy Hut’s signature dish is their sizzling flambee. There is a choice of eight, all of which are theatrically lit at your table. But if you prefer the traditional Indian offerings, all of these are available. Everything is halal and the good news for more sedentary curry lovers is that Spicy Hut is the only Indian is Rusholme that delivers. For more information, check out the Spicy Hut menu.

There are hundreds of curry houses in Manchester and I live two minutes from the widest choice - the famous curry mile - an entire street of about 50-60 curry houses. why then, for the last two years, have I only bothered with one? Because Spicy Hut is, I have no doubt, the best curry house in Manchester. The interior is fabulously gaudy. A riki tiki hawaii style bar? check. faux medaeval flickering torches? check. mirrored walls? again, check. If you're lucky, you might even get sat next to the tropical fish tank. the menu specialises in both sizzlers - hot meats brought to your table and somehow set of fire (i.e. chargrilled there and ...  Read the complete review
