Advantages: Lots of coffees to choose from, lovely range to herbal teas.
Disadvantages: Expensive prices, I can't stand getting stuck with a normal chair here!
Starbucks is a global coffee shop franchise that is located in many countries around the world and their stores are commonly located in the UK in shopping centres, high streets & inside some Sainsbury's supermarkets.
Starbucks specialise in selling coffee, herbal teas, milkshakes, sandwiches & sweet treats. There are many different varieties of coffee & tea on offer and quite a few choices of coffee are available hot or even iced. There are lots of herbal teas to be sampled and these are usually located near the tea so that you can choose the flavour you want to try.
The stores are always fairly snug and feel quite cosy, they have lots of comfortable chairs, settees & big armchairs which are perfect for relaxing in with a 'grande' cappuccino and a good book. I find this part of Starbucks to be very relaxing and I never feel that I am being hurried through my drink and out of the store. It is lovely to be able to relax and take a nice break from shopping or work.
I always find the coffees to be delicious & taste fresh and they are made with freshly ground coffee beans. The coffees are the main reason that I visit Starbucks as I think it's worth paying a little extra for something that I thoroughly enjoy. I have been known to sample the odd cake or sandwich on occasion and I have never been disappointed with the fresh tasting products which usually have premium ingredients within.
The staff in store are always very helpful & prompt at keeping surfaces & tables wiped down and clean. I have always been served promptly once I have made my selection and never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for my coffee to be prepared. Queues are usually kept low in store as staff are fast at taking orders and preparing drinks.
Overall I enjoy the Starbucks experience and although their coffees can be quite expensive (small black filter coffees start at around £1.50) I think it's worth paying this price as I thoroughly enjoy my coffee. I love the relaxed atmosphere and being able to sit around and enjoy myself with no worries or loud noise.
I would recommend Starbucks for tea, coffee & sweet treats but I am rating Starbucks 3/5 because I would like to see more of the comfortable chairs & some reduced prices on some of the sandwiches and bites.
Summary: A decent coffee in a calm atmosphere.

- 03/06/09 I always find that the coffee shops are too small - you can never get a seat at peak times. Why doesn't anybody ever open a 'big' coffee shop? |

- 03/06/09 Far too expensive, and it's normally too busy to be relaxed or even seated. So for me the "experience" of starbucks, is an unpleasant, expensive one. |

- 03/06/09 In keeping with other US-based global brands, Starbucks believe that you are paying not only for the coffee, but the "Starbucks experience" - which, like it or loathe it - is why they arse so expensive. This is an aspect which I thought you covered well in your review without directly mentioning it. Fab 8^) |
