Advantages: Quick, easy and cheap healthy food!
Disadvantages: occasional queues instore
Subway is a popular sandwich chain, spread throughout the UK.
*This review is based purely on my two local stores, so I appreciate that his may not reflect 100% accurately on all branches*
Having a Subway both opposite my student halls, AND opposite my work, makes it impossible to resist the succulent smells that waft enticingly around me now and then, so it's lucky for me that they actually provide a very healthy fast food option to the public.
The chain is based around Subway's namesake of sub sandwiches, but have also extended their range to wraps, salads, soups and snacks - a range of prices catering well for the current credit crunch especially.
Subway offer a 6 inch sub of the day (different every day of the week, and very recently my local branches are also promoting a sub of the month alongside this), priced at £1.99, personally providing enough for a full meal.
The boyfriend's enormous appetite is satiated by their footlong subs, also very reasonably priced, and a wide selection of fillings are avialable for both the meat lover and vegetarian. A diverse selection of salad and sauces are also available to compliment your sandwich, and I garantee you will end up creating a snack that resembles nothing you have ever made yourself - but you won't appreciate a toasted ham, turkey and cheese with jalapeno peppers and gherkins till you try!
In my experience, the staff, or rather "sandwich artists" (...seriously??) are consistently polite, efficient, and remember to change gloves between meat and veggie orders. I would heartily recommend Subway to any hungry shopper, in particular the health concious as this chain have a special lowfat menu, and all nutritional values easily available instore.
Summary: A much overlooked food chain
