Advantages: Yummy!
Disadvantages: None
I am a very recent fan of Subway as to be honest I had never really gone to one. Since I got my new job driving up and down the country though and Subway has become one of my friends because after 4 hours in the car and no food, Subway is the best thing ever. They make good sandwiches and I would much rather come here than go to a Tescos or Asda and getting a sandwich from there. Here is why I love it!
What is it?
Subway is a sandwich shop in basics. Its tagline is Eat Fresh so this was enough to make me want to give it a go. It is also a place where you really get to customise your own sandwiches so you can really make sure you are getting exactly what you want.
Appearance
Subways are very simple. They have a great green, white and yellow writing for the name and sign and the banner is usually bright green above the shop. When you walk in you do get in most of them a small seating area which is kind of like diner seats. You have glass cabinets which show you the fillings, salad and sauces you can get and also small place to show you what breads you can get.
In every Subway you will get the menu above the food which shows you what you can get.
Choices
Before I go into a little more detail about everything and what goes into your sandwich I will tell you about the basic choices that you have. You can choose from sandwiches which is teh main things that Subway is for. There are the basic drinks which I wont go into detail about as they are soft drinks and a small selsction of bottles such as coke and oasis.
There is also a snacking menu though that has mini wraps which is a breakfast one which is yummy, toasties which are basically a baguette with cheese on but are also very nice. Then you can also have a bowl of meatballs which are very yummy!!!!!
Your first choice though if you are getting a sandwich is if you want a 6 inch sandwich or foot long. The foot longs are big so I always go for 6 inch.
Breads
The first choice you get at Subway is what bread you would like. You can choose from normal breads which is your basic white and brown and then you have a hearty Italian which is normal but has a nice dusting of flour and is a bit crustier. My favourite however is Italian herbs and cheese which is simply delicious. The herbs are not overpowering and it reminds me of the cheeses covered baps you can get in supermarkets so it is yummy.
Fillings
In subway you choose which sandwich you like from a selection which are chicken and bacon, steak and cheese, veggie patty, Italian BMT, Tuna, Spicy Italian and meatball marinara. I will now take you through my 4 favourites that I have actually tried but I am sure that the other ones are just as nice and yummy.
My fourth favourite is the Veggie patty. I used to have this before I discovered how nice the meat was at subway and this sandwich contains this vegetable patty type thing which tastes like chickpea I always think. It is quite thin and very tasty but on its own it would probably be a bit dry so I would recommend having a sauce with it.
My third favourite is the tuna sandwich and this is because tuna is my favourite. It is tuna mayo and they give you a very generous serving of it which is nice but not too much. I would recommend having salad with this one though as it can get a bit boring without.
My second favourite is Meatball marinara. It is so yummy! You get a good amount of extremely tasty meatballs and they are doused in a lovely tomato sauce. The sauce however is not overpowering and there is not loads of it so you don't have to worry about getting the bread soggy. I recommend having this on its own as it is tasty and saucy enough.
My ultimate favourite and the one I have a lot though is the Italian BMT. This is Pepperoni, salami and ham and I am not a big meat fan but this is delicious. The meat is quite soft and not at all fatty or chewy which is fab. The taste is just delicious and although there is a lot of meat it doesn't overpower the taste of the bread or any other extras you may have. I recommend with south west sauce!
Extras
Ok so you have chosen the bread and which basic sandwich you would like. Your next thing is to choose any extras you would like. The first thing is if you would like cheese and I recommend having cheese with any sub. You can have normal cheddar or they have newly introduced a peppered one which I am not a fan of.
Your next choice is if you want your sub toasted and warm. I have it warm with the meatballs and tuna but not with the veggie or the BMT. It only takes them about 20 seconds to toast so you are not waiting around at all.
Salad choices are great and all the main stuff is there is stuff like lettuce, sweetcorn, tomatoes, peppers and a lot of other stuff. Then your final choice is to choose if you want a sauce such as mayonnaise or south west. South west sauce is the best but it is a little hot if you have loads of it.
Prices
The price of a foot long sub is just under £5 so me and my husband usually share one. A 6 inch is just under £3.50 and a meal is around £4 if you have a 6 inch one. Yes they are a little expensive but very nice so worth it.
Conclusion
In conclusion I love Subway and I do have them quite bit being out and about. They are quick to get and taste delicious and are way better than a sandwich you would get in any other shop. I like them as you can truly have what you want and the staff are always pleasant if even a little busy. I havenot had a bad experience yet with Subway and will continue to eat there. Thoroughly recommend.
Thanks for reading.
