Advantages: Huge choice, very fresh, delicious fillings!

Disadvantages: May seem pricey - but it is worth it!

I am a big fan of Subway, this chain (franchise) of sandwich shops seems to has got more popular and widespread in the UK in recent years and I for one am very pleased!

Firstly, the prices can vary from under £3 for a 6 inch long sub or up to around £5 or £6 for a footlong sub. So, not the cheapest sandwiches around but I think they are more than worth it. These prices do very much vary depending on the fillings you choose, whether you go for a meal deal including a drink, whether you opt for extra chesse, bacon etc, so it can be tricky to work out how much it is going to cost you.

The system at a Subway always seems to work well too, someone asks which type of bread you would like (there are 5 choices) and whether you want 6 inch or a footlong. Then you let them know which main fillings you want - there are various suggested combinations up on the board, along with sometimes a 'sub of the week' and things, but you can choose any combinations of fillings you like; meatballs, ham, chicken, spicy beef, cheese, sausage.....the list is quite long. You will then have the option to have your sub toasted (which is done in a high speed toasting machine and literally only takes a few seconds). Then the next staff member along the queue will ask you if you want salad, again there is plenty to choose from and you can have a bit of everything (lettuce, cucumber, jalapeno peppers, onion, tomato etc) or choose just to have tomato, for instance, or no salad at all. Your next option is if you would like any sauce, there are the usual things such as mayonaisse but again there is a wide selection including ranch dressing and southwest chipotle (which is scrummy!). I usually find I don't have to queue for too long as they usually have 2 or 3 staff members of at any one time and each one deals with a different bit of your order.

I would advise you to decide what you want before joining the queue however (unless it is a long queue and you have plenty of time to decide before you get to the counter) or you can end up feeling a bit rushed. My own personal fave is meatballs with cheese, tomato & southwest chipotle sauce on italian bread, sooooo tasty!

In addition to the fantastic range of options the bread and fillings are always very fresh and of good quality. I think that the freshness of the sandwiches and the amount of choice available justifies the price (which if you are getting a meal deal isn't at all pricey anyway).

Summary: Where would I be without it?!
