There's no trains in this Subway

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean premises, good value.
Disadvantages: Not enough seating at most of them, very enthusiastic staff pour mayo on subs.
I finally visited a Subway recently after getting some vouchers out of the Metro newspaper for some free cookies with a sub. Since i had never been to one before i didn't know how the queueing system worked having seen it before only through a window.
It is a little confusing for first timers because you have to choose your sub then follow it along the queue as it is being built by about 5 different people asking what you do and don't want in it, only to get to the end and have it wrapped up and a packet of cookies thrown in a bag for you. So all i will say is, it's a bit of a mad rush queueing and a bit confusing if you don't know how it works.
Subway generally have this "healthy eating" image and the whole "eat fresh" slogan would lead you to believe their ingredients are nice. They are, don't get me wrong but when i asked for mayonnaise i got the entire bottle emptied onto my sub, before i could say stop, my sub was quickly shoved along to another member of staff. My mayonnaise actually had a sub on it, that's how much they put on.
Normally their premises don't accommodate seating and if they do, there are only a few tables. They do keep the store clean though and hygiene where the seating area is concerned is good, they come round and spray the tables, wipe them down, and put the tables back into position when they get moved around, so everything seems organised.
Some of the employees, even the ones handling money don't actually wear any sort of protective hygiene clothing, the most basic of which, gloves. I know someone who got food poisoning from a Subway and that did delay my attempt to try one but my experience was ok and i didn't end up sick after eating there.
Their prices are reasonable with most subs costing between £2-4 for the good ones, and the cookies are cheap too. You do get a lot (of mayonnaise) for your money and the footlong subs are even better value. Their promotional offers in the metro include a free kids drink, BOGOF on footlong subs and a free packet of cookies so even better value if you can get these vouchers out the paper.
Overall a pleasant experience. Not perfect i will say that, but just... just pleasant really.
