Advantages: Decent
Disadvantages: Get orders wrong
I've said it before, and I'm going to say it again, College food is CRAP! Another one of the places we get relief from the rubbish they feed us is Taj Mahal Tandoori. We don't actually go there, rather phone them up and get them to deliver, but if you happened to live in Langley Moor then you could visit the shop (although I think they only do take aways). Delivery only costs £1.30 anyway, but is especially good value if you get a few people together to order. They have an extensive menu, including a few special deals, and are open for, 5.30pm to 12pm everynight of the week. They do just about every Indian dish you have ever heard of, so whatever you want is just about guaranteed to be on the menu. The prices are generally good, especially the 'Special Five Course Meals' while are available one Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. These give you five courses for only £6.20 (although terming poppadom and rice as separate courses doesn't wash in my book!). In this deal you get one starter, one main curry dish, one rice dish, one side dish and one popadom. You don't get the freedom to choose the whole menu though, as your choice is restricted. For starters you can choose between Kebabs, Chicken Tika, Aloo Chatt or an Onion Bhaji. For the curry you can choose any normal curry, such as Madras or Vindaloo, but not one of the special curries, also you can have either chicken, meat (pork, beef etc) or prawn curry - Tikka Chicken or King Prawn in your curry costs extra. For the rice you can choose between different types of Pillau rice, and for the side dish you can have either Bombay Aloo or a choice of Bhajis. Add to this a popadom and you have yourself a very good deal - the problem lies in trying to eat it all! Even if you don't go for the special meal prices are still reasonable, with a curry dish, rice and a naan bread costing around £6. And what's even better is that the food os great, some of the best I'
ve tasted (and bear in mind I eat a lot of curry!). Delivery time is fast, although the biggest problem with them is actually getting them to deliver what you asked for. The guy on the phone is Indian and has great trouble in actually making out what you ask for - we haven't got an entire order delivered correctly yet, but we felt it pointless trying to ring up and point out the error as the guy probably wouldn't know what we were saying!
