tamatanga is hard to beat
Author Name: Mae Dunton
Advantages: great food, great service, great atmosphere, great value
Disadvantages: music occasionally a bit hit and miss!
This place gets better and better. Have been visiting since it first opened and a friend mentioned it. They consistently deliver great food in what can only be described as a unique setting. The music is great, communal seating works well because the tables are so large and staff are good at spacing you out if there's room. It always seems to be buzzing, especially at the weekends, and the crowd is a really nice mix of students like myself, families, couples and others I guess. I would definitely recommend the butter chicken, it's so lovely and creamy! And the saag paneer is also fabulous, very much like it is back in India according to one of my Indian mates who also loves it! I reckon the best thing about this place is the price though. It's such good value, especially because the portion sizes are so generous and they've recently started allowing people to take food home if you can't finish it, which is even better. I think they do take away but haven't tried as I live so close it's easier to just nip in. I don't know if they've got any other restaurants in other cities, but my guess is it won't be long before they do.
Summary: once you've tried it, you won't be able to stop going back!
