TGI Fridays is a chain of American Diners founded by Alan Stillman way back in 1965. Fridays as it is known these days, was started in New York City and has now grown in to a worldwide brand recognised in countries across the globe. Watford's TGI Friday's has been open for at least 10 years, if not longer.
I myself have been to a few different TGI Friday's, New York's Times Square, Egypt - Sharm el Sheikh, London - Piccadilly, Dubai - Jumeirah Beach, Spain - Marbella, oh and of course Watford, Hertfordshire.

The restaurant menu offers you many of the American favourites, Burgers, Chicken dishes, Sandwiches, Salads, Pasta, Fajita's and TGI Friday's very own Jack Daniel's range.
The menu is split in to 3 sections, appetizers, mains and desserts (my favourite). I like the potato skins, but they are fried and you can taste the grease in them but the cheese and bacon does cover the taste well. I usually order these to share as most my friends and other half like them too. The Mozzarella Sticks are also very enjoyable, but again are fried cheese, this seems to be a pattern, and I wouldn't want to eat a meal with a starter that has been fried.
For mains I like to have the Chicken Fingers, again fried, with chips and corn. I also quite like the Fajita's although they are pricier. I don't particularly like the burgers; they taste so full of preservatives that you can't taste the beef.
The menu varies in cost, but you can get a main meal from anywhere between £7.69 (a San Fran Sandwich) to £17.99 (a Surf & Turf Combo).
The menu is mainly meat and does consist of Vegetarian options although my friend who is vegetarian has said more than once how she isn't impressed by the choice. It is limited in terms of salads and pasta.
The Stars menu costs £2.99 and the choices are:
Tomato 'n' Pasta
Jumbo Hot Dog
Pirates Fish Fillets
All are smaller portions than the adult portions, suitable for children. There is only 1 vegetarian choice.
The Stripes menu costs £4.99 and the choices are:
These portions are slightly bigger than those on the Stars menu and are suitable for older children.
On the occasions I have visited with children, they have eaten contently but then they are under 5, there was no complaints and the 4 year did recognise another TGI Friday's when out for the day, and asked if we could have dinner there. I think she just wanted to stay out rather than go home, but hey.
The bar has a separate menu for food; it is not massive and mainly snacks rather than full meals. The snacks are similar if not the same as the restaurant starters. Potato skins, Buffalo Wings, Mozzarella Sticks, Bruschetta, Nachos and the Times Square Big Share Platter (a mix of those already mentioned) and a few more options including the Jack Daniel's specials. Food orders from this menu are placed at the bar and eaten there too.
TGI Friday's advertise they have over 500 cocktails to choose from. Personally my favourites are the Strawberry Daiquiri, Blue Lagoon and Summer Peach.
A 'regular' cocktail can cost between £3.29 and £5.49 and an 'ultimate' cocktail can cost £6.79 and £7.29. Personally I think this quite expensive, if you buy a regular cocktail it comes in a glass that is no bigger than half a pint, but if you buy an ultimate cocktail, it comes in a rather glass fish bowl type glass. I think these are better value for money but the question is, how much do you want to drink?
When in Marbella on a hen weekend (24 of us) we went to TGI's and ordered an ultimate cocktail each and got another free (that's 48 cocktails!) but I am unsure whether this was due to the amount we spent rather than a promotion, and if it was a promotion, they've never done it in Watford, perhaps they should!
The bar is situated right in the middle of the restaurant, it is square and has steps leading up to it, and this is also where you are asked to wait for a table, if one is not available immediately. My biggest complaint about the bar is I quite often get ignored here, if it is crowded, there never seems to be enough staff on, and even when it isn't I tend to get blanked. So much so, I recently went here with a friend and my sister and while waiting for our table, we went to the bar to get some drinks. Well after 20 minutes, 2 bar attendants ignoring me, 1 through serving his mates (who were underage) and the other that seriously thought I was invisible - her served everyone else, even a couple to my right twice, while I was stood there. I flipped, started shouting I wasn't bloody invisible and I wasn't waiting any longer to be ignored.
I stormed down the stairs, with my sister and friend in tow and screamed we were leaving at the door host, he asked me why, and I told him I do not intend to be ignored, especially when I am prepared to spend my money in an establishment. To which his response was, here let me sit you down and get you all a free drink. So we sat down (we were quite hungry), and the rest of the meal was ok (but then it would be wouldn't it, they were on egg shells around us).
I don't like to lose my temper, I am quite patient, to a point, once I've snapped though, that is usually it.
The current offers available at Watford's TGI Friday's is the Take 2 Offer, this is where you pick either a starter or dessert and a main meal all for £9.99, you can however have 3 courses for the price of £12.99. This is not a choice from the main menu though and has a set menu for the offer. The Take 2 menu is just a reduced selection from the main menu, and tends to be the cheaper items.
**Offer runs Monday - Thursday only**
I am generally a fast food junkie and love these types of restaurants (mainly because I'm not in to exotic foods and I know what I'm getting). The food in Watford's TGI Fridays can sometimes be burnt, cold and the service can be awful.
BUT, I can't complain too widely as I keep returning. I will however NOT go back at lunch time, usually it is dead and yet the food takes forever! I have been many times on my hour long lunch break in which most places give me time to spare but not TGI Friday's Watford.
I also think training the youths that work there in customer service would also do the place and the overall experience for the customers a great justice. I appreciate most the youngsters that work there, do it part time, but there is no need to purposely ignore paying customers over talking to your friends. You are being paid to do a job - DO IT!
TGI Friday's offers a fun atmosphere, which is ok, if you are young and want to hear loudish music playing while you are trying to eat, which i quite like sometimes. They also have a great birthday song adapted, which they are happy enough to embarrass themselves in singing to you and the whole restaurant.
