Advantages: Nice food
Disadvantages: Ghastly colour scheme and uniforms
This report is based on my first visit to TGI Fridays (where did they get that name?). The place looked inviting and was chosen merely for a change. My first impressions were really what a strange colour scheme they have. No prizes for guessing it’s an American diner despite no sign of the American flag, - well not quite! The menu seemed ‘partitioned’ and it took a few moments to ‘suss’ out the options available but there is quite a variation of set dishes and the prices are pretty typical of these kind of chains (not necessarily cheap), and I understand for a party of eight people or more, they put an ‘inclusive’ service charge on the cost! The waitress was friendly and ‘assigned’ to my table, but what on earth was she wearing? For a moment I was unconvinced that I had not entered a Football match or perhaps a Circus! With that ‘uniform’ she could pass as a Clown or even a Football player! Main service was good though as was the food. It’s a shame I ran too late for a dessert, but this was mainly due to the slightly slow response from the waitress, and it took too much time waiting for the bill, as it does in a lot of these kinds of establishments. I’m beginning to prefer the likes of paying up front as you can do in some other bar style chains and why do we allow them to take our credit cards away for several minutes? - There should be a law against this. All in all a good meal, and I’ll be back later to try out those desserts!

- 21/04/01 The reason that your credit card is taken away for a few minutes is to get it authorised by the credit company which takes some time as the restaurant cashier has to phone the company, give all the details for the credit card and then wait for an authorisation number. |
