“ Dalton Square, Lancaster, LA1 1PP, Tel: 01524 64170 „
Situated in the lovely Dalton Square, right in the centre of the historic city of Lancaster, The Borough is convenient for the local amenities, the two theatres, the restaurants in the city centre, and also the cinema. It has been recently refurbished and having drank in the Borough on a number of occasions it is always busy, not overly so but enough for an atmosphere, and it is also true to say it attracts a smart clientele particularly on a weekend. The bar is well stocked, with a great selection of lagers and cask ales, aswell as an extensive wine list. The bar is nearly always well staffed and service apart from at the busiest of times is almost immediate. Having eaten twice at The Borough i am left with mixed views, the first occasion was disappointing with the food taking a long time to come, nearly an hour between courses and poor communication from staff as to why and also on this occasion the meal itself which was one of their house burgers was less than exciting, however having recently eaten there again (understand this was not my choice but as part of a group), I was left much more confident in recommending The Borough, the service was excellent this time and although it was an extremely busy evening the food was prompt, well presented and everyboy in the group enjoyed their meal and myself my steak. So if your in Lancaster would i recommend The Borough, yes. Definitely for an ale or two and maybe even for a meal.
The Borough is situated right in the centre of Lancaster in historic Dalton Square. A grand building with listed oak and exterior with beautiful stained glass paneling, we have endeavored to return The Borough to its once former glory.
