      Very helpful

      I would eat here again..

      The Grill Restaurant is located within the refurbished Casino Building just off the promenade and next to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It is close to tram and bus stops and a taxi rank is located outside. Car parking is available within the Pleasure Beach.

      The Grill is a brasserie style restaurant which is opened every day from 11am - late. They offer various menus which are dependant on when you choose to dine at the restaurant and cater for children (though I did not see any high chairs).

      @Modern And Upmarket Surroundings@

      The restaurant is tastefully yet simply decorated. On entering, the toilets are to the right and a reception desk straight ahead, There are various seating options within the restaurant including partial booths, tables for 2 and family sized tables. Tables can be arranged to accommodate larger parties on request. The restaurant is split into 3 open plan sections. There is the main area, a platform seating area near the bar and a balcony area up a flight of stairs.

      The restaurant has white washed walls given a clean and modern appearance and there is plenty of natural lighting thanks to large windows which surround the outside of the building. The decor consists of wooden flooring and seats and some pretty chandeliers and given the restaurant and overall sophisticated appearance. Tables are pre-set with crisp white cloths and adorned with shiny silver cutlery and glasses.

      With the restaurant being open for most of the day, they cater for everything except breakfast. With the exception of one menu, all menus are all a la carte.

      The lunch menu is quite varied and offers some interesting choices mixed with some common (yet with fancy names) dishes. There are 3 starters and 2 salads to choose from which are priced from £3.95 - £5.95. Includes soup of the day, lobster bisque and caesar salad. There is an option for lite bites if you don't fancy a full meal and these are priced from £4.95 - £8.00 and include the likes of eggs benidict, shrimps and pate.

      Main courses can be selected from a choice of 12 dishes which are priced from £5.25 - £13.95. This choice includes rack of ribs (the most expensive), burgers, steak pie and fillet of plaice to name a few. Vegetarians are catered for with stroganoff and leek tart being options and sides are available at an additional cost.

      @Afternoon Tea@

      For a cost of £5.95 (£12.20 for champagne tea) you can opt for afternoon tea. You will be presented with various finger sandwiches, a scone with clotted cream and jam and a pot of tea.

      The dinner menu is a la carte and offers the best choice of dishes. There are 14 starters and salads to choose from priced at £3.95 - £9.20. Choices include prawns in various sauces, smoked salmon, sole gourjons and mozzarella and tomato salad. Main courses are a choice of 19 dishes (3 vegetarian as noted above and includes an asparagus dish) priced at £5.95 - £17.95. Choices include mixed grill dishes, breast of chicken with chilli jam, scallops, mussels and lamb chops.

      The dessert menu also includes various hot drinks to finish your meal. Desserts are priced from £4.50 - £5.95 and include treats such as creme brulee, ice cream, cheese selection and cheesecake.

      @Childrens Menu@

      For £5.25, children can receive a child friendly portion of either fish and chips, gourjons, burger or sausage and mask and an ice cream for dessert.

      @Special Offers@

      The Grill has a 2 for £19.99 offer running which allows you to pick 2 starters and 2 main courses from a set menu. There is a choice of 5 starters include soup and prawn cocktail. There are 6 main courses to choose from which include gammon with various sides, steak, steak pie, fish and chips, stroganoff and leek tart.

      @Our Visit@

      When I visited Blackpool with my sister in June, we decided to look for somewhere a bit fancy for dinner as we had no children with us. As we were staying up the New South Promenade, we took a wander down that way and got as far as the Pleasure Beach before my sisters feet were hurting so we looked around for somewhere to eat. It was just gone 5pm when we spotted The Grill Restaurant and we nearly missed it as I have never seen it before with it being a fairly new restaurant. We had a quick look at the menu in the window and spotted the 2 for £19.99 offer and the rest is history as they say.

      I love the decor in this restaurant as it is so fresh and new. The toilets are exceptionally clean as is the rest of the restaurant. We were sat in the platform area next to the bar and the tables were placed quite close together so not exactly intimate. The restaurant was quite busy and they seemed to be filling up the downstairs seats first but I would have loved to sit upstairs and look right out onto the promenade. I would imagine this to be favourable during the illuminations.

      Whilst we were greeted in a courteous manner, I cannot say the staff were the most chatty I have met. They were tidy in appearance and professional though and service was quick. This isn't the sort of restaurant you would go into wearing shorts and tshirt but nor is it too formal that you would need a suit to gain access. We were dressed fairly casual as it was a pleasant evening.

      @Time To Dine@

      Having looked at the menus on the restaurants websites, I would say the choice is good but not as extensive as many restaurants. It suited us but may not be ideal for those with limited tastes (ie fussy eaters). I do not think there is enough for vegetarians in terms of choice so unless you like the 2 or 3 options there, you will be hard pushed to be satisfied. I believe the prices are fair and on par with other non fancy establishments though in much nicer surroundings. The childrens menu sounds pleasing and we did see a few diners eating with children.

      We opted for the 2 for £19.99 menu as it offered excellent value for money when compared to the dishes on the regular dinner menu and the choice suited us. We ordered a vodka with mixer each and a pint of Cola each o keep us going. The bar has a wide selection of spirits and soft drinks and a limited choice of beer though I cannot comment on individual prices. Our drinks were promptly brought to our table and we ordered our food.

      For starters I ordered French onion soup "traditional French onion soup topped with gruyere". I have had French onion soup before whilst in Paris and this was near enough spot on. It was full of aromatic flavour, real onion pieces which had a pleasing texture and the gruyere was flavoursome and creamy. I was pleased with my starter. We ordered a basket of bread rolls which were presented beautifully and came with lots of butter to spread as we pleased. They were warm and I enjoyed dipping them in my soup. My sister opted for the prawn cocktail "chiffonade of iceberg lettuce and Greenland prawns drizzled with a Marie Rose sauce". Presented in a tall glass, my sister commented on how yummy it was and the sauce was perfectly thick for purpose. They didn't skimp on the prawns and we were both content with our rather filling starters.

      Our main meals were brought within 10mins of finishing our starters which gave my sister enough time to go for a ciggie and for me to phone home to check on my little family. The meals were presented well and attention was paid to ensuring the meal looked the part which I feel is important when dining in a fancy restaurant. I opted for the 8oz rump steak "served with an onion ring, grilled tomato, mushrooms and French fries". The steak was absolutely perfect and cooked medium as I requested. It had a strong meaty flavouring and no fat bits present. It was very easy to chew. The onion ring was crisp, the half a tomato was juicy and fresh. I gave away my mushroom as I don't like them. There was a hearty portion of chips which were slender fries and cooked light and fluffy. I couldn't fault my meal and the portion size was brilliant despite ordering from a set price menu.

      My sister opted for the fish and chips "with your choice of French or chunky fries and garden peas or mushy peas". This was a big portion and I got to try a bit as my sister couldn't eat it all! The fish was battered perfectly and didn't taste or feel greasy. The fish was cooked well and had a pleasant, flaky texture and was fresh. The fish was of a high quality and I think it was cod but I am no fish expert. She had French fries and garden peas which were said to be fresh and tasty.

      After out meals, we were a bit stuff so decided not to over indulge in a dessert (or spend any more money) and have a walk along the pier to rid us of some of the calories we had consumed at the Grill! The couple at the next table from us were sharing the cheesecake dish which was thick and looked very pleasing but I simply couldn't fit anymore in. We received our bill and paid by card. I believe we were just over £30 for 2 starters, 2 main meals, 2 alcohol drinks, 2 colas and a basket of bread.

      We enjoyed our meal at The Grill Restaurant. It was nice to dine somewhere different which had a pleasing ambience and still offered high quality food at a decent, affordable price. We got a lot for our money. I plan on returning here for lunch when I go to Blackpool in February with my son and fiance.

      I can recommend The Grill Restaurant if you are looking for somewhere tasty and are up the South area of Blackpool.

      5 stars! Thanks for reading x

      *Please note I am currently awaiting an email response from the restaurant to clarify the actual times that each menu is available and will update when I get a response.
