Advantages: Amazing food
Me and My Husband try and visit The Grove as often as we can. It is by far our favourite restaurant in Shropshire.
We live between Telford and Shrewsbury, so there are not too many places to choose from that offer a diverse vegetarian menu. So the Grove is perfect for us.
The owners John and Lesley are really great people, and every time we visit, they make us feel really welcome. All the waiting staff are brilliant too.
The atmosphere here is really serene. They have a resident dog (Toby) who is extremely friendly, and they have a few other small animals outside. The decor is a bit dated, but not extremely and it gives it a really homely feel.
The grove offers a wide menu, they have 3 separate menus, one is meat based, one fish based (freshly caught fish) and one vegetarian, and every time we go there is something different for us to try.
The food at the Grove is outstanding quality, they source local organic ingredients, and they have even started growing some of their own veg. We have never been let down by the food. They have a desert case in the restaurant which always has amazing looking deserts in, and if like us you are always really full after a 2 course meal, they will put the deserts in a little metal tray for you to take home at no extra cost (we always use this option). The average cost of meals really depends on what you have but I would say they are fairly priced. Main meals cost from £8-15, starters £4-£8 and deserts are about £5. For the quality and quantity you get you will not be disappointed.
The grove also has a website where you can book your table, and order specific food. For example if you fancy lobster, just send them an email and they will find you lobster for when you have your meal, I think that this is a great option, and more restaurants should do this.
If you want a cosy pub atmosphere and amazing food, especially fish or vegetarian dishes, this is definitely the best place to go.
Update: 19/04/10 The landlord is now offering a service of paying one way taxi fares, so he will either fund the taxi to or from the Grove. What a brilliant idea, we will definitely be making use of this in the summer!
Summary: Brilliant place for food.
