Every year we try to find somewhere interesting to celebrate our anniversary. We've found some great places in the past; rarely have we been completely disappointed. This year was a little different in that my wife had to be in London for a conference on the day of our anniversary. I found us a hotel nearby and came along to spend a day in London whilst she was otherwise occupied. Fortunately the conference wasn't going to last all day so we would be free in the evening. It is said that you have to book months in advance for a table at The Ivy, but my partner phoned up on a Sunday and got a table that evening (much to his amazement)! There was a porter who took our coats, he was dressed in a posh top hat and tails. The food was served very quickly. We had hors d'oeuvres for starters then lobster and some other adventurous dishes. It was beautiful, my partner proposed to me and the staff made a fuss of us with giving us expensive champagne and on our desert they wrote a message for us in chocolate around the plate.
