Advantages: Decent Food, Nice Location

Disadvantages: N/A

'The Met' is a wine and Tapas Bar located at Ventnor Esplanade on the Isle of Wight.

The building itself is modern, and the interior is clean and comfortable with toilet facilities.

There is on street parking outside the venue, but it can often be difficult to find a spot. If this is the case, there is a council run car-park around 100 metres along the road.

Strangely enough, there is no booking system in place at The Met - therefore it's simply a case of turning up and hoping to be seated. However, as the restaurant is fairly spacious, you're generally guaranteed a table.

The menu is fairly limited, and only displays the cold tapas items e.g 'mixed meats', olives and bread selections, however, there is a board near the bar which offeres a greater variety of warm foods.

The food itself isn't just limited to the traditional Spanish dishes - there is also a selection of world foods available, for example chinese spare ribs. Although not being in keeping with the theme of the venue, these added dishes can offer those of you who aren't tapas fans something a little different.

The quality of food is very good. I would recommend the spicy little red peppers stuffed with cheese, which are quite delicious. On my last visit I also had a tortilla baked with cheese and potato which was really nice.

Prices aren't too expensive for a place of this type - most of the smaller dishes are around the £3.95 mark, which isn't bad at all.

Staff are very friendly and on the whole quite well organized - although it did take a while to get noticed last time I was there.

I recommend the Met if you're a local, or just visiting the Island. It's a very nice place to eat with a relaxed atmosphere.

Summary: Good Little Venue

Am most likely visiting the Isle of Wight very soon, so will be good to know somewhere good to eat!
