Newest Review: ... pleased with her vegetarian dishes. Not only was the quality of the food outstanding but the portion sizes were good which is, for me, fundamental. A meal should not only be good but must not leave me hungry at the end! The Thai Platter of mixed hors d'oeuvre, for example, was delicious and could only have been made from the raw ingredients entirely in the Orients' kitchen - a far ... more

I know this restaurant already has 5 * reviews but as the last entry is June I thought you might like to know this is still the case. We took our son to celebrate fab GCSE results and had a great meal. Very authentic cuisine and there is something for all palates. My son likes 'lots' of chilli and wasn't disappointed. I don't and had an equally tasty meal. Staff were attentive and helpful. Good wine selection too. We need to go back soon to try some of the other dishes that took our fancy on the menu. Mmm.... it's my birthday soon !!!

Just back home from an outstanding meal at The Orient and was so impressed I wanted to write this review straight away. Excellent food, well prepared, authentic and beautifully served. The menu is varied with mainly Chinese and Thai but also Japanese and Vietnamese dishes making appearances. There is a very good selection for vegetarians and my wife was very pleased with her vegetarian dishes. Not only was the quality of the food outstanding but the portion sizes were good which is, for me, fundamental. A meal should not only be good but must not leave me hungry at the end! We went on a Friday night and the atmosphere, I felt was just right - not silent but not as noisy as another review said. The food was probably the best I'd had in a long time. The presentation was excellent and the food arrived promptly and was hot and flavoursome. The mixed start was presented in a superb way and tasted as good as it looked. The staff were very attentive without being a nuisance. When we had finished our meal we sat having a leisurely coffee until we asked for the bill. The cost was no more than other good Chinese restaurants that we have been ... Read the complete review

This has got to be one of the best Cantonese Chinese Restaurants around. Yes it is small with room upstairs when busy but the food & service are second to none. Not on the menu but fantastic is king prawns in Mandarin sauce with soft noodles.
