HI, I went with my family today as it is the 2nd May (Bank Holiday) 2011 and even though i am ( or we are) regular customer we always fancy a carvery on fridays we also thought to go on Sessions House for the Monday Bank Holiday.
As usual waiters were nice, smiling and i loved the food!!! I mean usually the food is truly yammy but today it was even more yammy!!! It was excellent!! Is never too good when you pay. :)
The offer is still available so we paid as little as £ 5.95 per carvery and each of us truly filled the plates so the value is fantastic! My daughter was so full she couldn`t even eat it all!
It was nice as well as service as while we went to get the carvery the waiter got our drinks ready on the table for us, so we didnt had to wait at all when we got back.
I dived into my lavish meal and i truly loved it!
I love it everuthime as the carvery is truly the best of its glory at the Sessions House.
I would receommend it to anyone even families as i saw many families in there and waiters were nice to the kids ( even the spoilt brat close to our table).
Hope this is helpfull,
Me and my family fancied a nice carvery, so we asked advice to some friends for a good restaurant & carvery. Many names came out but then we decided to go to The session`s House as it is a beautiful Castle just 5 minutes walk from Peterborough City Centre.
The entrance, the waiters was impressive, we have been asked where we wanted to sit and my 2 daughters decided to sit on the second floor of the restaurant.
Got our Carveries from the Buffet/ self service area and we filled up REALLY with lots of super veggy and cheesey calli. My wife loved the roasted parnips ( crunchy outside, soft and sugary inside), i loved my roasted potatos ( you cant beat tatoes with beef, i reckon) my daughters , very fussy eaters, eat all the meat - which was absolutely something great for the tongue to taste!!! very tasty and literally melting in the mouth - so as they have been eating all up they deserved a treat. WE all went to check out the desserts trolley ( and to be fair i didnt want to get away from it) there was a lot of choice and a big jug of cream waiting on the side to be poured onto the choosen dessert. Me and my wife went to a traditional cheese cake ( vanilla cheesecake for her and strawberry cheesecake for me) my two daughters went for the scrumptious chocolate cake with cream on it.
I have to say that i really loved it. Everything was just perfect! The desserts are a great value for money since they give you a big portion. I also loved the cheese & buiscuits ( my wife ordered it and i pinched some) the cheese was delicious!!!
Yeah, i will go there again even though my little daughter keep asking for a burger... we do prefer Real food for a great value and nice service.
Hope this is usefull for you to read.
If you decide to go to the sessions house go for the carvery and the veggy!
They also do A` la Carte if you fancy something different and special. I loved the wine in there i have to say that the Italian wine in there is quite nice. The waiter told me that it comes from Italy. Loved it.
went there again as i said on a previous review and it was lovely.
I will go there again, i enjoyed the meal and again i have to say that the waiters were really nice and smiling .
I just loved the beef and the gravy with onions in it, the coffes were lovely and i am sorry to see some reviews about the session house were it has been described like a poor experience or something but i am glad to see that all the " not so nice reviews" are actually quite old ( 2008) and i am sure that its only tyhe case of very few. I go there quite often and i love it every time.
Food is lovely, ( i personally love the gravy-perfect every time) i also love their cheescake and my daughter love the scrumptioud chocolate caje and they are good portions too!! Not bad for £ 3 desserts.
Lately i have noticed a new manager there, a lady which she seems very nice.
Anyway i hope this is useful and again, i love going there everytime.
Visited The Sessions House at lunchtime with out two year old twin grandaughters. We had visited before and been very pleased so after reading the bad review we went feeling very wary...Pleased to say that we had no need to worry at all. We were met with enthusiasm by the waiter who arranged high chairs etc and even offered to watch over the twins while we went to the carvery! The food was tasty and well presented and offered good value. All in all no complaints at all...
Rather than write an actual 'review', I'll just copy in a letter of complaint that we sent off to the management of the Sessions House, (by actual letter, not email) approximately six weeks ago. It should be noted that we never received any sort of reply whatsoever. Ergo, we will never be visiting this poor establishment again. They had their chance, and blew it!
On Saturday 3rd July 2010 I took my father along for a carvery meal at the Sessions House. It was a treat for Fathers day. I have to say that the experience was, sadly, somewhat disappointing. Both the waiter and the chef were actually quite sullen, almost to the point of rude. Any questions we asked were answered tersely, we felt, making us feel a little embarrassed to have asked in the first place. My father was given the wrong drink, although we had made our order quite clearly. Also, the slice of gateaux he was cut after his dinner was so thin, it more resembled a biscuit. Had the waiter had a bad day or something? That shouldn't be passed down to us, the paying customer, should it? We were disappointed to find, upon having to ask, that we were 'allowed' only two of the three meats that were on offer. This doesn't appear to be mentioned anywhere in the restaurant, or on your web site. My partner was given the first slice from the ham joint, which obviously consisted of mainly fat, this amounting to half his portion of the meat. One would have thought that the chef would have put this inedible part of the joint to one side, instead of offering it to a customer as consumable food.
No, all in all it was a miserable experience, we haven't been there for years and to be quite honest this experience has put us off going again. I know these may seem like a lot of inconsequential things, but put together, all in one visit, they all add up to unsatisfactory service. Yes, we could have brought all this up at the time, but that only serves to embarrass and cause bad feeling, we chose to salvage what we could of the evening. But I do feel that, in the interest of customer feedback, it would be remiss of me not to make my feelings known to you.
