=== First Impressions ===
This place used to be a manky pub who had local band splaying every weekend which was the only reason I went here. But within the last few years the Trawl has been taken over by the "hungry horse" restaurant company and with that came the demolishing of certain areas and the construction of new areas onto the pub. After a couple of months this was completely transformed. From what was a rotting pub into a warm and inviting place. The first noticeable changes are the carpark which is still the same but all around the outskirts of this are small yellow fences and flower beds with blooming flowers all around, this I might add is maintain regularly still and you can often see a team digging out the weeds and re painting the fence to keep on top of it. Approaching the building is a beer garden with picnic benches which is always nice. Walking inside in amazement, the bar is in the same place but made smaller, completely refurbished and made extremely bright and attractive. Where the stage once stood is now along with everywhere else a seating area. Added into the back is a sports bar area, although not completely separated it's clear that that is the place to have a drink. The trawl has undertaken a complete transformation and for the better, it looks brilliant now.
=== Getting seated ===
For the first few weeks of the trawl re opening it was so stacked out it was pointless going because we could not find a place to stand let alone a table for 12! The tables are quite close together which isn't what I want to see in a restaurant but from a business point of view they can't afford to turn people away so you can see they have used the large spaces as advantages and stuck as many tables in as they can. After a month or so me and my family decided to go give it ago and try to get a table, just like we thought the place was stacked out, staff members where helping out frantically trying to find everyone spaces that they could even if it meant having to add extra chairs onto smaller tables, there were eight of us stood in the center of the room in a large crown and we wasn't happy, it was very frustrating. Since then it isn't like this and it's normal and we can make our own way to a table.
=== What to choose ===
Every hungry horse restaurant has the same menu, different venue. In Grimsby I believe we only have two hungry horse restaurants and more sizzling pubs, I think the other HH restaurant is the pear tree in Humberstone. There are a fair few menus on the tables, the main menu, sometimes an offers menu and a kids and drinks menu. The main menu is the only one I look at and it's pretty standard ranging from the starters and meals to share such as light pasta dishes and salads. To the mains made up of chicken, pasta and salad dishes along with the meat dinners such as mixed grills as well as the traditional Sunday roast. Then we have the Desserts of all sized from ice cream right to the sweet tooth overloads which is meant to be shared. Despite this not being a sizzling pub I always play it safe and go for the mixed grill.
=== Ordering Food ===
As you may of guessed this is a get up and do it yourself kind of restaurant like most these days, From our table we usually have about five different people going up and ordering because everyone is paying separately, going up to the bar you have to wait in turn, say you're all ordering for the same table but paying separately, you state the table number, order your drinks food and then pay. This is convenient in a way because it means you can get the bill out of the way straight away without having to worry about paying on card, this can be annoying if there are a lot of people at the bar from drinks too, it could be improved by having someone taking orders at tables and accepting payments there like they do in Pizza hut.
=== Scrumptious food ===
So they mixed grill is the same as the sizzling pubs mixed grill, made up of steak (cooked how you like it) a chicken steak, two sausages and a gammon steak complete with a side order of chips and fried onion and tomato. The first thing I do is ditch the tomato and eat the onions before they cook on my plate. I then tuck into my sausages, they're always so moist and juicy they go down a right treat. I start on the pig next, in here it's always so salty which is nice but I have to drink a lot to wash it all down. The when I have more room on my plate I start on the cow, this is always cooked to perfection -no pink, slightly well done, chewy yet moist, it's so delicious if I could swap everything for the beef I would do. the bets until last is the chicken which is slightly moist but so dry at the same time so I have to drink a lot when eating this too. I then save the chips till last and use the heinz mayonnaise to eat these with, now that's what I call a deliciously filling meal.
DESSERT TIME. my favorite part of going out for a meal, I usually choose the warm chocolate brownie which comes with hot chocolate sauce and a side order of vanilla ice cream. Despite the massive meal there is always room for cake. This dessert isn't overly large but is a good sized portion still, the one scoop of ice cream is enough to eat a bit of cake and ice cream at the same time.
=== Service ===
The bar is always filled with staff and despite how busy it gets they always manage to keep their cool (which I know is hard to do behind a busy bar) and serve people with fairness and efficiently. In both busy and normal times the tables are cleared with exceptional speed. Each staff member is polite and always happy to help. The service provided in the trawl is standard to any restaurant.
=== Price and offers ===
The Trawl is really good to help you save money when going out for dinner/tea time. The mixed grill is just under £7 and a lot of the main meals are about this as well, I have a coke all the time and sometimes buy too depends on how salty and dry my chicken and pig is! The trawl have offers where children can eat for free or a pound. Their offers change so much that I find it hard to keep up with them so it's best to check their website people planning on going here.
