      Great restaurant

The Wok Inn is a Thai/Cantonese (most people refer to it as Chinese food) restaurant and take away in Brandon. Brandon is around a ten minute drive from Durham City, or a 20 minute bus journey. It is situated on the site of 'The Black Diamons / Brandon Ridge Public House'. You wouldn't expect to find a restaurant in an old mining village so this is truly a little gem.

I have been to this resturant in excessive of 30 times! There is always atleast 2 vegetarians in my group, me included and the choice is great. Thee is a lot of tofu meals which I never used to be a fan of but I highly recommend the Pipa Tofu starter which is mashed silken Tofy mixed with spring onion, coated and crispy with brocolli and a dip. I also love the Tofu in the budha's feast meal.

The staff are also great help, for instance, there was a chicken and sweetcorn soup and crab and sweetcorn soup, but they made me a plain sweetcorn soup which wasn't on the menu. Similarly they will change thing on the menu for you.

If your on a budget they do an all you can eat selection (please check which days and times this can be used) but unlike buffet restaurants where the food is kept warm for hours (which usually gives you a bad stomach next day) the food cooked to order, so everything is fresh. There are a lot of starters, soups, mains, sides and desserts which makes this is a good choice. Its not that good for vegetarians as the only mains are curried mushrooms or vegetables or vegetable chow mean. I find the curries like british curry sauce and much pefer an authentic indian curry so never chose them.

The restaurant itself is very spacious with loads of tables. I would book for a friday or saturday or if you have a big part as it is very popular. There are around 20 parking spaces. The takeaway sells the same food at a cheaper rate but I prefer sitting down.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food has always been to he highest quality. The choice is great for meat eaters and vegetarians. the free parking is great and the staff are very helpful. The prices are very fair too.
