Toby Carvery

Description: Traditional English food in a relaxed, family-oriented atmosphere.

Newest Review: ... I opted for homemade mushroom lasagne. Moist, juicy and cheesy but on the small side and served in a soup bowl. I added flat tasteless Yorkshire Puddings, shrivelled up dry roast potatoes and carrots which were fortunately edible. The rest of the family had an array of meats which consisted of turkey (dry and tasteless), beef (chewey)and ham which turned out to be the nicest of the lot. On ... more

Excellent first time lunch at the TOBY Red Lion in Barnet. its 20 years since we gave this a try.

Excellent decor and greeting in the pub/restaurant filled with 50's-60's couples etc.

Excellent meal all warm/hot and good veg quality. And parking! Good service and pleasent Chef. All this for a fiver!

I was very impressed, my elderly mum thought the food a little cold but this was after 30 minutes of eating it.

Premium Review Thinking of dinner at the Toby at Hinton? Think again! (568 words)

The Toby Carvery, Hinton As the idionm goes "Never judge a book by its cover". Well when the paints peeling off the restaurant wecome sign and the front of the building and several of the bulbs lighting the fascia need replacing its pretty easy to think you've made a mistake picking this place for dinner. That is until you try to find a parking space. Its nigh on impossible. Despite there being approximately 70 slots people are queueing in the aisles for spaces. Surely thats a good sign. Getting a space isn't the end of the problems though. The car park was laid out by the owner of a smart car or a mini. They're tiny, you can geti n them but you ...  Read the complete review

went to the Toby carvery at the White House in Enfield at the end of August this year. I've been to this place on numerous occasions and actually had a christmas day meal there last year, and have never had any problems before. There was a large group of us and we had arranged to meet up in there. We were shown to a table and the service was fine and the food was satisfactory and afterwards we all parted compnay and went our own ways. However within 2-3 days after the meal all of us came down with severe symptoms of food poisoning. We contacted the White House to inform them the following week but the duty manager wasn't interested. Seems obvious but won't be ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Be prepared to eat too much! (666 words)

This review is based on the Toby Carvery at Rooley Lane in Bradford, where I have just come back from after eating far too much! This was my first time at a Tobey Carvery and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. We decided to go for lunch there today with our neighbours and their little girl, along with our 2 daughters aged one and three. We chose here upon their recommendation and also because they had found it to be family friendly. When we arrived the car park was absolutely heaving, so I was expecting a long wait to be able to get a table, but was surprised when they told me a table for 7 would take just a few minutes to clean and prepare. Premium Review Toby Carvery: Great Value Roast Dinner (383 words)

This is something i've only recently got into but I have to say the Toby Carvery is a fine chain of restaurants that do provide good food at great value. From Monday to Saturday at lunchtime you can have a carvery meal for £5, you can have beef, gammon or turkey. On Sundays the Roast carvery costs £7.50. Toby Carverys are set out as pubs with a large area for eating, they are incredibly popular especially on Sundays and you take a ticket, sit in the pub area and wait for your number to come up to be seated. Once seated you can choose a starter if you wish for an extra £2.50, i've never had one, as I generally come on a Sunday but with breaded camembert, ...  Read the complete review
