Advantages: Lovely Food, Reasonable Prices

Disadvantages: Feel Huge When You Leave, Sometimes Have To Wait

I love these sort of places, I mean the fact you haven’t got to spend hours in the kitchen preparing that lovely roast dinner you have been looking forward to all week!!
Its not that I’m lazy but when you work all week, and every other weekend you want to make the most of the time you off!!

One Sunday a few months ago we decided that we should go out for dinner, so we had a look round to see were our nearest carvery was and found one that wasn’t to far away from home. At first we gave them a ring to see if we could book a table but they just told us to pop in, so we did!! When we got there, we booked our table and there was upto an hours wait, we didn’t mind waiting so we had a drink at the bar. We didn’t actually wait an hour more like twenty minutes so we were pleasantly surprised.

We were escorted to our table (which I might add was no smoking) by a waitress who was very pleasant and helpful. She sat us down, asked if we would like any starters, which we both refused, and showed us where the carvery was itself.

There was so much to choose from three different kinds of meat and then you could help yourself to as many vegetables as you wanted, you don’t just have to pick one type of meat, you can have some of all three if you want. They also offer something if you are vegetarian so there is something for everyone. Because there is so much to chose from, you tend to pick a bit of everything even though it is far too much, and as my dear old mum would say “you must have eyes bigger than your belly!”

We sat back at our table and tucked into our overfilled plates, which I might add was absolutely scrummy, and the waitress came over to check to see if we were ok and to see if we would want anymore to drink, which we did, and we didn’t have to wait long for that either. Because we had so much on our plates we couldn’t finish all our meals, how embarrassing! So my old mum was right!! The waitress came over again to check if we enjoyed our meals, which we did and she cleared our table and ask if we wanted any deserts which we both refused and she bought us our bill. When we got it, we were pleasantly surprised, the meal only cost £9.95 each plus we had a drink each, so it didn’t even come to £24.

We left there feeling extremely full and happy as we both enjoyed our food, and we’ve have been back a few times since. We have even taken the little one with us and they are great with kids. I believe his meal only cost £6 and he enjoyed every bit of his to!!
We have even been during the week and its just as good then!!
They do get extremely busy, so occasionally you do have to wait, but most of these places do have a play area for the kids.

I do recommend you try, if you like a roast dinner then go find your nearest Toby’s.
