Me and my family went to the Toby Carvery for our lunch one weekday lunchtime, I knew that my sister has been a few times and thought it was nice and good value, so on her recommendation we decided to try it.

We didn't really know what to expect, however both me and my partner had expected a bigger menu, it seemed that the only thing you could get was a meal from the carvery, I was expecting a few pub food favorites like fish and chips, but that wasn't the case so a carvery it was.

They we're very accommodating with our one year old though, they gave us a small plate to give him food off of our plates and with it been a carvery you can go back for seconds of everything except meat. So in affect he ate for free.

At £5 a person you can't really complain. There was a choice of 3 meats, pork, turkey and beef and some people got a bit of each, then there was the biggest yorkshire puddings in the world, stuffing balls, roast potatoes and a range of veg with 3 choices of gravy.

However we got there early and had to wait for the food to be put out and even though the food was freshly served it was cold, so even though you could go back for seconds I couldn't stomach it and struggled to finish my first serving.

Maybe it was just our local one or a bad day but I wont be going back to find out, I would rather pay more and enjoy it.

Summary: Not worth a fiver
