Advantages: beautiful food!
Disadvantages: you have to sit next to other customers.
I used to come to wagamama every Sunday with my girlfreind after a boozy saturday night out. It is probably my favourite cure for a hangover ever. I especially enjoy the fact that the come to the table so quickly which is exactly what i was looking for on those hungry hungry hungover afternoons.
Wagamama is basically a fast food chain with a difference. The food comes really quickly but it is so healthy for you at the same time. You get the choice of having rice dishes, noodle dishes or salads. They all come super quickly as well. The food may come at different times though as it is cooked to order and doesn't hang around in the kitchen for ages before being served.
I think one of the best dishes on the menu is the chicken itame. It is a noodle dish with a slightly chilly sauce or almost soup. It is a tiny bit spicy but really hits the spot i can tell you. It is also reasonably priced at around £8 as well. Which for a main course in a restaurant that you know will fill you up is not that bad at all.
My girlfreind always orders chicken Ramen, she absoloutely loves it. I'm not so keen though simply due to the fact that it is a bit of a nothing meal and you can't really taste that much of it anything in the dish. everytime that i have ordered it i have felt a little disappointed.
One of the most popular dishes on the menu as well is the chicken Katsu. It doesn't look that tasty but it is actually quite pleasant. It is a rice dish with grilled chicken peices on top. I have found that after a while it can get a bit stodgy as well. They also do other Ramen(noodle dishes) such as chilli chicken and chillie beef, as well as some others too.
Wagamama's starters are not really starters at all. They are actually like side dishes that come at the same time as the rest of the meal. I would thoroughly recommend that Tore kare age. It is absoloutely amazing. Deep freid chicken thighs pieces with a special teriyaki style dipping sauce. YUMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!! There are also some other great side dishes as well as main courses too, most of which i have tried but can't for the life of me remember which is which.
Probably one of the most off putting things about the whole restaurant is the fact that you are seated in dinner style seats and may get lumbered sitting next to other guests. Allthough there is plenty of space i do often think that i would rather be sitting on a table for two. But then again maybe this is an attraction for some, i don't know.
I love wagamama and i think there is pretty much something for everyone in this restaurant. If you have never really treid Japanese food before then this is definitately a good way to kick start your obsession with Japanese food. YUM YUM YUM
Summary: Try out this amazing hangover cure, you won't regret it.
