Advantages: Excellent burgers, good range of food
Disadvantages: A little on the pricey and chain side
Wannaburger in the West End, is, at first, not exactly what you'd expect for that part of town. The menu is devoted pretty much entirely to burgers. But, to quote M&S, these aren't just burgers, these are gourmet burgers.
The Wannaburger premise is simple. They serve burgers. You start with what kind of burger you want - chicken, beef or bean. And it's not just any old meat (at least according to them). The chicken is chargrilled and free range. The beef is 7oz of 100% fully traceable Aberdeen Angus.
Once you have decided on the burger, you choose your topping.
The Wannaburger menu has 16 different kinds of topping combinations. The prices start from the reasonable Classic Burger at £5.95 for your burger of choice, topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and relish to the more expensive Aussie at £8.50 for your burger with beetroot, a fried egg, fresh pineapple, mature cheddar, salad, mayo and relish.
10 of their burger combinations are vegetarian, so there really is something for everyone.
I would recommend the Cajun, The Chilli or the Mexican, and all three of their types of burgers are very good.
The menu also has sides, although the burgers are really quite filling, so I'd recommend sharing a bowl of chips if you really feel the need. There is also the option of salads for your main, but I don't really know anyone who has had these.
The drinks are a mix of normal soft drinks and wines/beers, right up to rather expensive (topping out at £3.50) but delicious milkshakes (go for the peanut butter and banana), and even coke floats.
The restuarant itself is a little on the chain restaurant side, kind of like the burger restaurant equivalent of Beanscene. There is another Wannaburger up the Royal Mile, and the decor etc, is all very similar. Every time I have been in, it has been clean and the service is very friendly, if a little American perky. There are some nice or cutesy features depending on your tastes. For example, when you get your bill, instead of mints the waiter/waitress brings you a shot glass of peanut M&Ms.
All in all, I'd recommend Wannaburger as somewhere to go for a Sunday afternoon with friends. It's expensive enough that it seems like a treat, but not so expensive that it will break the bank. Nice big portions, relaxed atmosphere and the joys of childhood through artery hardening drinks. What more could you want?!

Summary: A good relaxed place for classy burgers.
