Well, after getting a dinner out of my boyfriend he treated me to a wonderful night at the Wild Orchid. As soon as i walked through the Door, the bar people were right there to take your coat, and get you a drink and sit you down b4 showing you to your table. After they sit you down with your drink they bring over the menus and specials board, and give you 15mins to choose, great selection of starters/mains and wine/drink list. They then once you have placed your order, show you to your table. within 5mins our starter was in front of us, even on a busy saturday night. Then 10mins fater we finished our starter our mains shows up, i had chicken and thai prawns in sweet chilli sauce! Absolutly wonderful!!! My man had steak with mushroom and ? garnish! Then for the big finale we had a Frozen B52..OH MY GOD..never tasted anything like it... Absolute heaven!! Everyone Please go here! You will not be dispointed! Sarah
The Wild Orchid Restaurant in Vernon walk Southampton is a breath of fresh air. My boyfriend and I stumbbled upon this culinary haven squeezed between the Orange Romms and the Nat Raj. Our aim was to find a respectable"grown-ups" restaurant that was reasonably priced and not too snotty- we succeeded! The restaurant is nicely decorated with wooden dining furniture and parque flooring. It consists of a ground and first floor dininig area. A seperate bar on immediate entrance puts you at ease and is a comfortable place to be waited on before being seated. The atmosphere is light and welcoming and most people are in smart casual dress. Each table has a proper table cloth and candle for the romantics among you. Unfortunately disabled access is not optimum. Wild Orchid offers a three course menu which has something for everyone wheather you're a carnivore or a vegan. Also they are very accommodating when it comes to menu modification, if like me you are a fussy eater, this is a God send. English would be the best term to describe the type of food on offer but there is clearly some european and mediterranean influence. The food is served promptly and decoratively by true professionals. The waiting staff are friendly and helpful without being over bearing, the srevice is always prompt and witha smile. An example of the price of a three course meal is £50 that my boyfriend and I paid for us both, not including any drinks, which are also reasonably priced and are served from the bar to your table. A good example of the kind of meal one could order is: starters: mushrooms in a garlic sauce or smolked salmon pate with salad. Main Course: Rump steak in a red wine sauce with a choice of potato and veg. Or Chicken breast in a garlic sauce. Desert: Profitteroles with cream or ice cream or maybe a fruit sorbet. A definate must wheather it's a business lunch or a romantic evening meal, Wild Orchid is a great choice.
