Advantages: Amazing Steak! Friendly atmosphere, Fantastic Night out.

Disadvantages: Maybe a bit to much Garlic butter for some?

I have visited this restaurant twice in the last month and have found my new favourite eating place. Ever since I was a wee lad I have had a huge appetite and have loved seafood and steak Therefore it seemed logical that I should try this Restaurant in the Heart of Edinburgh.

The Food

This restaurant is a named a Steak and Seafood Bistro therefore you can probably guess what makes up the majority of the menu. To try and get a full taste experience I ordered a Brown Crab Claw to start followed by a Surf 'n' Turf Sirloin Steak Main and a Cheese Board Desert.

The brown crab claw starter was served with guacamole with a bit of a chilli kick to it. It was delicious the crab meat was succulent if a little fiddly to get out. The presentation was amazing. I was very impressed as I thought being a bit of a steak house it might be a little less flamboyant in the presentation and all about the flavours.
My only slight concern was about the size of the starter, this was to prove to be a blessing with what came next.

The main course of Surf 'n' Turf consisted of a Sirloin Steak cooked to your preference and some huge King Prawns on top. This Steak was delicious it was cooked beautifully to my exact preference (medium). It was incredibly tender and when you ran you knife though it the juices ran out a little. It was also huge filling half my plate. I had a massive grin on my face when it arrived at the table. The prawns this came with were cooked in a garlic butter sauce and drizzled on top of it with a side serving of French fries and salad. I would have to say a perfect meal.

For Desert I went for the cheese platter and I was impressed there was a perfect mix of cheeses and I it finished of the meal beautifully.

The Drink

I wont pretend to know much about wine but I went for the house red which provided a lovely full bodied flavour to compete with the steak.

The Staff

The staffs in this restaurant were incredibly friendly and helpful. It is marketed as a family run restaurant and I really showed. They were lovely.

The Setting

The restaurant is decorated beautifully with stone walls and brown leather comfortable chairs. There was also a little wood burning stove in the corner which provided a fantastic smell to the surroundings. It was very atmospheric.

The Cost

A three course meal for two cost me £89 pounds minus the tip which isn't bad considering the quality of the meal. The steaks on their own costs around £22. The house wine was around £13.

Down side.

The only slight negative I can think of about this place is that the food is quite rich and heavy so the following day you may be left with a full stomach. My steak possibly had a bit to much garlic butter sauce on it and so I was left with a slightly garlicy flavour in your mouth. Having said that I loved it!

Summary

I would happily go back to this restaurant again and again. The whole experience left me with a smile on my face and confirmed my love of steak.
It was a very good night out, I recommend it!

Summary: Worth a visit if you are in Edinburgh
